Dana 60 Rebuild Spindle Bushing vs. Needle Bearings?

Just getting "finished" with the 89 crew cab and have a ARB and 35 spline alloy outers to install. I ran across these
http://www.longfieldsuperaxles.com/p...-Bushings.html
I have not purchased the factory needle bearings or seals yet so I am trying to get some feedback before I buy one or the other. Anyone have info?

I don't know. I personally would not trust a piece of plastic supporting my axle shafts. Just do some maintenance like one should and grease your bearings.

X2. Snick is 100% correct. Grease will not only prolong the bearings life, but will help dispensate the heat. How will that plastic do that?

Proper maintenance is just a part of life for our hobby. Do it right, or go home!

I say go with the longfield stuff. When mine go out that is whats going in. There was a thread on pirate on how he tested them and it will suprise you. The advancements of plastic have come a long way. That and he's one of the best guys in the buisness to deal with. As far as maintenance.. Pick up one of his spindle greasers at the same time to help in that department.

All I have done on this thing so far is maintenance. I am ready to drive it. The info on the Longfield site about the spindle greaser is a little lacking, anyone on here try it?

Very ingenious. I may look into that myself. I just prefer to stay with bearings.

That may be the quote of the year. I hate the idea of having to feed or use a horse but have thought to myself several times since obama got elected that we will all be horseback after he shuts down the oil and gas industry. Then I find out that BP was his largest campaign contributor when he was Senator obama. The bubble will soon burst and we will all be sucking air.

I say go for it. Give them a try. Then you can come back and give us some first hand feedback on them. I personally like the idea!

Just wanted to post up that I have been wheeling the absolute chit out of my longfield spindle bushings. Finally got to take the front end apart a little while back and they look as new as the day I put them in. Great product! Bought his spindle bushing greaser but have only used it once. So very little grease, tons of trail miles and still look new.

The greaser may be the key, I never used it. I dont play in mud..but, my first run with any water was WFTW, my hubs were full of mud and water after. Plan to make my own greaser.

Yeah the greaser looked very easy to make. His is bling though!

I hate the mud and usually try to avoid it at all cost but where I wheel that isnt always an option. I'm not the best with maintainance and fully expected them to be fawked but to my surprise they were in excellent shape.

Bumping an old thread.

I have the Longfield bushings and have them pressed into my spindles for my D60. I have both the inner and outer spindle bushings and the rock guard oil slingers ready to install on my new 35 spline chromo axles. I'm am a little confused on what the bushings eliminate from the install.
Is it just the thrust washer that is not needed? I have seen some conflicting posts throughout different forums. Anyone else installed these and have any insight?

Thanks

To ad to my previous post:

I believe I have it figured out. The Longfield bushings eliminate the Thrust washer and inner spindle seal closest to the hub.

Just in case anyone is serching for this particular bit of information.
