Need to be slapped upside the head with a bat covered in rusty fish hooks!!!

Now lord knows I am not the best at spelling and grammar but at least I try. Yet this stuff is getting old and on my last nerve in the for sale section. Or did this become a water sports forum and we are going sailing?

"I need to sale this"
"I'm saleing this for a friend"
"should I sale this"

And many other abortions of the above.

For Christ’s sake people it is "sell" say it with me "SELL" "SELL".

Deep breath not needed.

It is just one of those things that annoy's the living snot out of you.

Kind of like when you were a kid and lost your first tooth and you kept sticking your tounge in the gap. Or a wierd sound in your rig and you can't find the cause.

Yet I degress. It is no wonder that our country is going down the tubes when a person is so "meh" with our language.

Five year phase-in plan for "EuroEnglish"

The European Commission have just announced an agreement whereby
English will be the official language of the EU, rather than German, which
was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's
government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and
has accepted a five year phase in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish".

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". Sertainly, this will
make the sivil servants jump for joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favour
of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less
letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the
troublesome "ph" will be replaced with the "f". This will make words like
"fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be
expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.
Governments will enkorage the removal of double letters, which have always
ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of
the silent "e"s in the language is disgraseful, and they should go away.

What's with the ''Spanish being pushed on the young ones'' comment about? It is fairly stupid and poorly thought through. Consider the millions of immigrants (and for the close minded, yes there are other immigrants other than Mexicans) coming into this country every year with their varying dialects AND languages, which inevitably is a recipe for language transformation. So no matter how you look at it, say bye bye to your 1800s English of yonder.

Other than that, yes people need to fawkin' learn to use a keyboard and spell their target words correctly. So that means Rastus needs to remove the censorship so I can spell ******* correctly

I agree. Knowledge is power and the more languages a person can speak the more people they can communicate with. This uneducated mentality of English only and screw everything else is ludicrous in this day and age.

Here is my take on learning another language.

If you know that you will be working around/with others that speak another language, it will behoove you to learn it. It is a plus in lots of construction companies if you speak spanish. It can help you earn more at times. The same goes for english overseas, if you want the tourist money then you better learn it. The 'weird' thing though, is that the europeans that go country hopping know english. Hmm, I wonder why that is.

Seems the same way w/ the dollar. EVERYBODY loves the dollar.
