Well, first, the truck was not on the trailer. Bobby received a call from Scotty sometime between 10PM and 11PM for the rescue. Scotty was still stuck in the mud at that point. Bobby had an issue with his alternator that he had a little bit of trouble with. I was up and received a request for help around midnight. I talked with Bobby on the phone for about 15 minutes. Then I jumped in the car, went to the shop, picked up some tools and supplies, and headed over to Bobby's.

It was about 12:45 AM when I got there and I discovered that there was no positive cable running from the back of his alternator to the battery. His stock wiring harness was chopped up pretty bad by the PO, so I had to do some quick repairs. We got his situation straightened out, and then hit the road. By the time we hit Poth, it was 2:30.

Scotty was pretty tired and his directions were not very clear, but manageable. Once we got off the pavement and onto the dirt roads, the condition of the roads got worse and worse. We came upon a sign that said MUDFEST <---- (turn left), so we did. Then immediately another sign said MUDFEST ^ (straight ahead) but this sign pointed 90* to the road we just turned left on.

Well we continued on down the road and it got worse and worse. It got sloppy enough that Bobby had to put her in 4WD. We got through a real sloppy part to come to a dip in the road that had water across it. We couldn't tell how deep or how rutted it was. We debated. No cell phone signal what so ever, so Bobby tried to back his way down the road because there was no way to turn both the truck and trailer around without jack-knifing or getting stuck in the bogs.

Well, Bobby did one heck of a job backing up, but the truck couldn't really keep traction straightly and the mud just shoved the trailer off towards the rutted ditches on the side. I suggested we pull forward and disconnect the trailer, have Bobby do a 3 point turn, turn around and then we spin the trailer 180 by hand and go back. Bobby wanted to try it a few more times but it was a no go. The mud just wouldn't cooperate.

We did what I suggested and it worked, albeit it chewed up a good 45 minutes to an hour. Bobby turned that 3+3 around on a single muddy dirt road in 7 turns. Great job! Next we moved the trailer. Bobby and Jake got on the very end to relieve the pressure on the tongue, and I lifted up the tongue and spun it around in the mud. Jake did the last little, because my respiratory took hold of me pretty fast and I had trouble breathing. So I put my fat *** on the back of the trailer and it went right over.

We hooked back up and drove to the end of the road and called Scotty, just to find out that that way was the way to go in. Well, Bobby was a trooper and charged forward again. We went through the same slop and hit the water hole. It was rutted enough that the trailer bottomed out. No damage though and the 3+3 performed valiantly.

We went down the road further into the darkness and came up to the end of the road. No signs, nothing. We called Scotty and he guided us in. By the time we reached him, it was 5:30.

Scotty's truck was caked. It was beautiful. There were some folks who were up drinking around a campfire. Most trucks had cleared out, but there were trucks scattered around, including a whole bunch still out in the mud, stuck like chuck. They were mostly stockers.

Bobby turned the trailer around and we attempted to load Scotty. It was too slippery to do it without the ramps as the K5 slid off to one side of the trailer. We had to pull the ramps. We got loaded up and it took some time to get him strapped up as his undercarriage was just caked with mud.

We finally got him loaded up and we hit the road. We took another way out and it was much better than the last. We finally got to 181 and were cruising when we stopped at a Shell to gas up. You should have seen the looks of the people as we pulled in. One guy started BS'n with Bobby about his motor missing and then wanted pictures. We then left and that was it. Uneventful going home. Dropped Scotty off then parked the truck and she is where she sat.

I really enjoyed the night. I haven't been on a mud rescue in years and it felt good. Glad I could help Bobby with his alternator and assist somewhat in getting Scotty.

The most memorable image was the miles of beer cans on the ground. Cans and cans and cans and cans and cans...

Went to Pick-n-Pull off Applewhite today. The Chevy section officially sucks! It's so picked over they need to get all new junkers in. Walking around the Chevy area in many spots can be hazardous to your health. There are so many hard parts on the ground, gas tanks, shields, busted up trim panels, seats, etc., you can trip easy.

LOL. You're funny MUD 2finger

I expect stuff to be on the ground, but the amount of stuff right now is ridiculous. I could build a complete vehicle out of what is just lying on the ground.

What's really funny is the seat that Javier pulled the last time we were out there, is still in the same place he left it.

Has anyone ever done this around the Dallas area? Sounds like a blast, I love junkyards. We have one here between Waxahachie and Midlothian that the owner loves the classics. I took a vacation day a week ago just to go rummaging around the place. lots of 4X4s and old trucks. he has a 'for sale' section where the cars/trucks are still titled and sold whole. Mostly classic cars and trucks. I looked for 60s already, there is only one (i think) under a ford-driver drop. When they scrap a 4X4 they keep the F/R axels so there are a few piles around of those. There is a Yota with a super big lift on it, really really curved leafs lots of blazers and fords..if anyone needs me to check a part for them there let me know. If anyone is intrested in doing one of these junkyard runs (where-ever) around Dallas/Ft Worth area let me know or post it. I will gojamminzz
