You can see why I go to Clayton more than anywhere else. I was there this past Saturday working on another trail near where that same crew was working. But it was a mild trail-tailored for those who are new to the sport (don't want to scare them off with a nasty trail their first time out).
yall would really like the place bobby. I think a bunch from here (sw oklahoma) are gonna try to go either late july or early august. Yall should try to come the same time.
Yes the town likes to see the 4x4s roll in. Don't do stupid stuff and you can drive your trail rig in town, no problem. Several motels and campgrounds within 10 miles of town. The big property Green Acres butts up against city limits.
Hell yeah that place is the shizznit! You can drink and wheel all night! I went for my first time on New Years and we wheeled pretty solid for 2.5 days and did not see a third of it.
K-Trail which is for the "milder rigs" is one of the first places that I actually got behind the wheel to wheel ! It is awesome - we just set up camp off the road when we got tired of wheelin' and it rocked !! We (Toyota Trail Riders) might be there for Memorial Day also.
Clayton rocks. I'm hoping to be able to make a trip up there this fall. Maybe I'll have better luck than last time. I wheeled for 30 minutes, then spent the rest of the weekend keeping the cooler from flying out of the back of a friend's jeep. lol
