A small update, but it's an update to this long journey of a build I started nearly 5 years ago.

I've been gathering parts all year long trying to get the interior put together.

Bought 4 of these so my passengers and myself would have a comfy seat to sit in on the road and off the road.

Building brackets for them as I type this, hope to have the front set done before I go back to work in a couple of weeks.

Then I bought a lighter steering wheel and more off road look.

I also took all my interior door panels and dash to the painters to have everything shot in satin black. Will get pics of that once I get it all installed. Will also be applying Lizard Skin sound deadner in the interior floor board, back firewall and front firewall. Then over that install a rubber floor mat.

Still plan on making a center console to house the GPS/NAV unit, shifters for the t-case and transmission and switch panel. It will also have a/c ducts running through it to cool the rear passengers along with 4 cup holders.

Keeping with the expedition-dual purpose theme I picked up my wheels today.

They are 20" Forged Hutchinson double beadlocks brand new from the military. They came in boxes unopened with new hardware and O-rings. I will have to get an adapter made to adapt them to my 8 on 6.5 bolt pattern. I plan on running a 335/80r20 Continental MPT 80 or 81 tire with them which is a 40" tall tire.

Finally made a HVAC cover for where the factory unit went. Since I'm going to use a Vintage Air HVAC I didn't need this large hole in my firewall, so I made a template out of some poster board and traced it on a sheet of aluminum I had and presto one cover for the big ungly hole. I need to install the Vintage Air 4 way bulk head in it for the hoses and then have it powder coated satin black.
Here are a few pics of the cover.

Here is a preview of my seat brackets for the Mastercraft Baja RS Seats.
Started with some 3/16"x5" FB for the side pcs and then used some 1/2", 1" and 1 1/2" dimple dies to add some more strength and aesthetics. Framed them in with some 3/16"x2" FB. Will be adding 1.5" sq tubing for the cross bar pcs to attach the seats to. These were mocked up in the front holes, but to clear the front hump I will need to make a set that has less drop in the rear, so these are actually for the rear seats. Should have some finished brackets pics soon.
Pics:

Once finished I will get them powder coated satin black.

Bruiser. It has been almost 5 years since you started this lifetime project. I do hope that you finish before you are an old man like myself.
But, I must say that your work is top quality. It will be a fine truck when you do finish.
Have a Great day.

Thanks Don!

It has been a long time and I really didn't think it would take this long, but working half the year away from home and help raising two young girls will slow you down quite a bit. Not to mention the dollars aren't always at the ready either. It will be worth it in the end.

Rear Seats

Got the rear seats in today!

The space in between the seats will be filled with a 50 quart ARB Fridge/Freezer.

Next is to build the brackets for the front seats, which will be very similar to this rear seat bracket. Then I will reinstall the factory dash so I can build the full length floor center console.

Stay tuned.

Wheels

Found a great deal on some adapters from some rail road trucks to mount my military Hutchinson aluminum 20" double beadlocks.

Now just need some 335/80r20 (40") Michelin XZLs or Continental MPT 81s.

New Dash

Changed my mind on building a complete new dash to save some time and get the interior done sooner so I could move onto the motor. Well after getting the dash shell in and trying to get the mock up of the Vintage air positioned it was clear it was not going to work.

So back to building a complete new dash from 1" .120 wall DOM I started with the console, which had to change up a little to work with the custom dash, then got the main top bar done before having to go back to work.

Outer frame bars for the center console.

Trick tabs welded on for skinning.

Top portion skinned with aluminum.

Pics of new custom dash.

Mounting plates so I can remove it if needed.

Mock up of where the Vintage Air HVAC unit will live.

Center part of dash will house the DVD/NAV, A/C controls, A/C vents and switch panel.

View from the front of the truck.

That is all I have for now. Will be ordering new steering column so I can get the bottom dash bar done and start building the gauge panel as well. Will post some more pics once it's complete and ready to go to the powder coater.
