1985 k5

meet who we affectionately call the bunny.
somewhere back in 2003 i bought this fine specimen for a crap ton of money.

fast forward.

polished a few turds, these are mannys axles from his k10. 4.56! limited slip WHA!?

SICK!

conned a guy into a trade for his 37s.

stuck like chuck.

conned a friend into better 37s

then the internet got hold of me.
shackle flip and steering repairs. Front DIY abomb, DIY motor mounts, DIY shackles, stainless brakelines, etc etc.

allright! Went on an awesome vacation and blew all of my money! Go to work on monday and the trans goes out on the way there.

a month goes by and i source a built 400/205 which was deltas old 205, from python, who is a helluva dude btw. Installed the trans in december every day after work when i had time. Also put in a superduty rear 1350 cv shaft at the same time. Got it going after all the ignition decides to crap at the same time.

drive it to work and my alternator went out. sweet more money i dont have.
on the way home from oriellys, i wreck it.

little car pulls out in front and WHAM. RF tire into the firewall. bent my front axle. pulled my frame horn down. fixed it with a floor jack and some chain and a new cetering pin and dummy axle.

Took the insurance money and built me a sweet 14 bolt. 4.56 and a Detroit with discs.

And fast forward another year or so. I live in my own house now. Strangely just down the street from the guy I got my th400 from.
14 bolt goes in!! 8 lug 3.08 front axle so what. 56s went in too.

And then another year goes by. Python again, has a 4.56 geared 60 f with crossover and hydro assistification. He made me a great deal so I jumped on it.

It is time. A buddy came over and literally twisted my arm to put my abomb, 52s and the 60 in. it was hot ok.

Oh I also conned him into his 39” boggers too!

52s are worth it. So is hydro assist.

M12000

After this day, the truck lied dormant for another year.

Mud. It will tear your soul apart every time you work on your truck. Never again.

It will also blow your motor up.

Chaparro mike offeres up a BBC. I oblige. This motor is sick. So now im big axles big trans and tcase and big tires. Baby blowed up motor. Bbc swap was well worth it.

Got some 42s and went to the coast, enjoyed the crap out of myself.

And to hidden falls! I wheeled it I swear, just cant find the pics…..

Here I am this year. I have lowered the hell out of it. And went DRW as well.

I made my own shackle flip and sold my ORD one. Swapped my 56s around to stretch it. I needed to stretch it so I wouldn’t have to cur a driveshaft. I swapped from a 400/205 to a 400/241 that was in project freedoms blazer. It is 4” longer ish so it worked out great.

Dana 70 HD 4.56 full spool and discs.

Motor is in the blazer AND it runs too.

Heres the chop yob.

everyone on tx4x4 probably has a hand-me-down part on my truck. it holds the driveway down exceptionally well. thanks guys!

so ive still got to lower the front. probably 2" more. i have 2" superlift 52s up front currently. i removed the overload andit needs to come down more. as you can see in one of those pics my up travel is bitchin.

i am thinking a set of 2.5" lift 48" front springs.

this could net me about 3" stretch forward, but that will make me rub the front side of the fender, real bad. i have adjustablility with the abomb so i can fine tune it.

thats whats next. so i will be adding in questions that the innanets cant answer or are inflated pirate answers.

I was wondering the other day if you had a build thread on your rig. Always liked it!

What's next on the list of mods?

thanks man, right now i have four link rear on the brain and it hurts.

then i have been scribbling cage stuff lately. gonna start bending in june likely. hopefully may will give time. so far it hasnt.

this is a general guideline, but its most likely gonna be "wing it" type job. see how stuff fits in reality. never bent before, but art has. i think most of my stuff looks realistic.
also got to figure and decide what seats im gonna get. my seats are wore out.

Even though it's a mall crawler - I seem to remember him dragging it through the trees at Tree's Ranch last year and the floating hood of death going up Managers Branch...

I'll see if I can find the vids..

Still a sweet rig Matt
