well, the d44 is up for sale. i have a front spidertrax 9" axle that i got a deal on through the shop i work for. it was going in a buggy project but i've decided to set it aside for a few years and wheel the fawk out of the blazer. (by the way, somebody please buy my d44) i'm also going to the pick-a-part this weekend to pick up some vortec heads and a tbi system. i'm going to try and get this stuff done with as little down time as possible. stay tuned.

he already has a fuel cell and his current motor has a very questionable top end.
i told him the same thing and he knows but when you have to replace heads anyway it would be cheaper to go this route

update time..
old motor went boom so i built this.

i kept the bottom end that came with the truck. it checked out good on a comp test and cylinder walls looked good. suposedly it was brand new when i bought the truck. it's bored .040" over. topped it with vortec heads, comp cams cam and valvetrain with roller rockers. edelbrock intake and a race built quadrajet. i got to run it all weekend and it ran great.

I have yet to see,...a mint 100% restored 73-87 Chevy K10-30 p/u or blazer on this site! I don't understand why people turn everything into a rock crawler rust bucket.

Are you going to wheel wells in the front at all? Shouldn't you protect the motor from the mud and what not?

I think you really are fishing in the wrong pond for that type of thing. There are other enthusiast sites more tailored to restorations and resto-mods:

http://www.gmfullsize.com/forum/index.php
http://www.73-87.com/

This is an offroad crowd who is into purpose-built trucks. These rigs live hard lives off the pavement. No one in their right mind is going to bash virigin sheet metal and nice paint over the rocks. Now that would really be a crying shame. Most of these "rust buckets" would be rotting away at some dump instead of being used if it weren't for someone like this guy rescuing them to provide years of service and fun. What looks like a POS to you shows a lot of utility, simplicity, reliability, knuckle-skin and sweat to someone else.

You have 5 posts here and they are either bashing or non-tech comments:

http://www.texas4x4.org/search.php?searchid=360755

What's the point? If you want to debate build philosophies, then post up in chit-chat. That's perfectly appropriate. Posting a pointless flame in someone's build thread - why?. There's a difference between criticism ("Hey man, that bumper is going to nerf your approach angle.") and flaming. Also, you could at least pony up the few bucks to buy a membership to the site if you are going to stick around to spit-ball everyone's builds.
