buggy re-do

well i've had this buggy since october and so far it's wheeled pretty good, but i've always wanted to make it my own.
i started with this

all toyota drivetrain on propane, 5 speed, duals with 23 4.7 in the rear case. fj80's. rear yota springs up front and 4 link rear.
first thing i did was pull the backseats as they were built for kids not adults. also re-did the floor for more storage and a couple small things
i never really liked the rear tube work that much. alot of unusable space and all the stock frame.
so i deceided to re-do the backhalf before i started my fall semester.
called up jkcustom's and went up there to see um. im doing all the little work. grinding off old crap fitting pieces, helping where i can. i'll be doing all the welding on it also.
plans were a pickup bed style backhalf with a dual triangulated 4 link.
all tubing is 1.75x.120" dom and where the doorbar meets the bed is sleeved with 1.5 dom
uppers are going to be 1.5x.250" dom with 3/4x5/8" chromo heims
lowers are going to be 2" solid 7075 t6 aluminum links with 7/8x3/4" chromo heims
here is progress so far. should have it all done on monday. i planned poorly and didn't order brackets early enough so we're waiting on 4 link brackets and the link crossmember material
so i started by weighting it
i'd like to try and lose some if i can

RAWPower just gettin started
That rear axle truss & gusseting is pretty sick. The rear end is going to look 100x better, nice tube work.

Looks a 1,000 times better than it did before.

But personaly I would not have made the rear truss so high. I would lower the front upper mounts a little bit, and lower the truss height so there would not be as much stress on the axle truss. (just think pry bar the longer it is the more force that can be applied)
That and use plate steel not tube so you can notch it to the axle tube size. I just wouldn't trust tubing welded to the top of the axle tube like that. I would want a lot more surface and weld area in contact around the axle tube itself.

Look at the rear bar, it's not parallel to the bars behind the front seats. I'm not sure which of them is parallel to the ground, if either. Maybe it's just the angle of the camera, who knows.

its square now don't you worry.
as for the truss we made it that high because more vertical seperation will take some stress of the rod ends.
this is a 1 piece housing. so i have weld surface from tube to tube. probably two feet per side. should be plenty
if i lowered the upper mounts it would be me no seperation at the frame.
this is a light buggy. i've seen people get away with alot less with alot more power and weight. im not worried

That is true but it is all in a strait line on top of the houseing.

A better idea of what I am taliking about.

Think of it as holding something with your finger tips or grabing it with your whole hand.

i see what you're saying. should be just fine though. time will tell. i doubt my low hp, light buggy will hurt anything even with the gearing i have.

yeah more cutting will come later on. right now i wana get it back together so i can wheel
later plans include boatsides to widen the lower portion of the doors, and new front clip/lower hood line not soo boxy front
