I'm 90% sure there's going to be a V8 back here.

May use a front wheel drive system.

Any ideas?

Cool donations accepted.

Northstar or Buick 3.8 supercharged. I was thinking more modern.

No door. Your not very observant the first picture is the right side.
I guess tell him it would take about $10,000.00 plus labor to restore it and it would be worth about $20,000.00. It would have a 45 hp engine and no A/C.
When I start to drive it, I hope to have about $4,00.00 in it and it will have 300 to 500 hp automatic cruse A/C power brakes and be worth just about the same. Besides it will look lots cooler than it would stock. Guess he could make me an offer and then I wouldn't cut it up.

Oh I don't give a **** what you do with it. Thought it was a cool, didn't stare at pics. passed it along, reported said conversation from an enthusiast, doubt he would even buy it. But still a badass plan you got and something I would do to it instead of a restore.

Boogaloons just gettin started
Been there, done that

just sold a rampside as well, built a 215 buick to run backwards with the original corvair auto transaxle. Great idea and fun to drive, but SO many minor issues it had to go.

CORVAIRWILD just gettin started
There were tens of thouands of these Corvair pickups made, and just a few hundred in 1964, it's last year. I have one from Arizona getting a new powertrain, and my friend just bought this one in Texas, similar condition to mine.
After Jay Leno restored one to dead stock, they started coming out of the woodwork!
Most of them led a hard life, but they're still many around, and usually at least one at a Corvair get together

Ig you just gotta have a "Groovy" purple pickup......

or try this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1962-...ht_2729wt_1064

This is mine...

I assume buy your name you know a bit about the Corvairs.
I was told there were only 642 of these made? Was the guy talking 1962's or the truck model?

I'm not tiring to argue the point of how rare the truck is. I don't care. The guy I got it from said the production #'s were real low. After the statement about there being tens of thouands of them I started looking.

This is what found: Mine is a 1962 load side according to the description of the truck/vans, there were only 369 made in 1962 and another 2,475 in 1961. Non were produced in any other year.

Looks like around 20,000 total for all years combined including both the rampside and load sides.

Corvan (95) - Corvair panel van that was available 196164

Greenbrier - Windowed van that was available 196165

Rampside - Corvair pickup with a ramp on one side that was available 196164

Loadside - Rampside style but without the ramp which was available 196162

Deluxe - Option package of upgraded interior and trim available on some of the "van" models.

That thing needs a C4 Vette rear in it,drive shaft (or no shaft) can be real short because the diff don't move.

Cool find!

I agree we have already discussed that as one of the best alternatives. Or Jag rear.
