Talking The Start of a Toy Hauler

This is my toy hauler project, it is 1991 k30 2wd 350tbi 4L80e. I got this truck for $1300 bucks and i have always wanted a quad cab of this body style The first things i did was clean out the interior and install some seats out of a 2004 extended cab chevy, i wanted to use the factory mounting holes and at some point want to drop the floor pan under the front seats, but by removing the feet on the bottom of the sliders and using a plate to mount them to it works good for now, it helps that i am short but when i get a i will clean it all up. I also got a set of 33X12.5X16.5 wheels and tires and they mounted up without rubbing or which was a surprise, but a good one. A link to all the pics http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/l...t=DSC04468.jpg

A few teasers

Talking Little more done.

Been very busy but have got some stuff done. I am gathering parts for the 4wd swap about to swap in a reman engine, and got the tires on
37X12.5X16.5 GSR on a 2wd with no lift and very little rub. There will be no rubbing after i persuade the inner fenders

Before Trimming

I will post some more when i get back home.

Why suck a tall tire for a tow rig. It got 4.10's or something.

Yeah, i have always loved this body style and i want keep it low enough when i swap it to 4wd to leave the 37's on and still be able to pull a goose neck trailer. i am going to run some load range E tires and i just dont like the look of six inches of lift and 33's to much wheel well for me imo and the rear is a 4.56 Thanks for checking out my ride.

Yeah i finally got the engine built, i am still waiting on a few parts to get here from jegs. Once it all gets here the engine goes back in. As for plans i want to sas i would like to use newer axles from a Dodge 2500 or 3500 i also want to swap in a Cummins and a 5spd. I am working on fixing the interior. The end result i want a clean tow rig that can be a daily driver. Pretty much every thing all in one thats not to much to ask i don't think. I will try to get some more pics when i get home.

Little update

Well work has been crazy but i have managed to get the engine almost in a little more work and it will be in. But for the time being i photo shopped a few things on to the truck, the first was about 2" of lift and a few others see if you notice them there are two other changes.

Thanks a lot bigevil on the windows and mirror i want to eliminate the wing vent with a one piece window kit then weld a mounting plate to the window opening for the mirror to mount to. My wife's car has a set up like this where the glass is behind the mirror mount. i will try to find a photo of it. i have also seen people eliminate the wing vent by using two pieces of alum. to sandwich where the glass was but i don't really like it there is a pic at the bottom right of this link http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/inte...ad_console.htm Your progress on your crewcab looks awesome looks like you are making a little more head way though

Few more parts

Getting closer to putting in the engine i picked up a 1pc Serpentine belt setup the only problem is the power steering pump doesn't have a reservoir and the a/c compressor is broke. So now i have to swap the pulley off my a/c pump and put the serp. one on it and figure out something for the power steering pump

update

Its been a while, a lot has happen in the last 9 months. i now have a 7 week old baby boy and we all know how that can shuffle ones prioritys. But i do have progress. got the motor in and hooked up and had to get a new radiator, shroud and fan (the fan i bought was not a reverse rotation one and i found out the hard way) with the cooling issue solved i was reading no oil pressure on the gauge so i built a manual gauge and put it in place of the sending unit to check the pressure. Turns out i had 55psi, so now i need to get the exhaust redone so it will pass inspection and then start getting together parts for the 4wd swap yeah!!

Update!

Well itís been a long time, my son is now 2 and my wife is pregnant again, also work got crazy and now I work at a different location. But there is some progress to report finally. I got the truck running and driving again, it only took a new alternator, battery and power steering pump. When I get back home at the end of August Iím going to work on getting it Legal for inspection. That will take fixing the brakes, steering coulomb wobble, fixing some vacuumed leaks and the biggie, getting new exhaust. The previous owner had it registered as a farm truck in a county that didnít do emissions so he removed the cats and had true duals installed. Iím going to get one have the pass. bank tied into the driver side, have a new cat installed and I have a new flowmaster 50series muffler then have it exit in front of the rear tire. But we will see, I may have a crew cab 4wd frame waiting for me when I get home. If thatís the case then we will just have to see what happens
