I hadn't touched this thing since September until i Went to marble falls for the dirt riot race & got my motivation back. I was close but just let it sit. Finally drive it for the first time on 34 months yesterday. Sweet! I'll post pics & video.

I lack exhaust, coil springs, lights & a front drive shaft. I had things lined up to get it weighed today & drop it off for exhaust but I couldn't rent a trailer wide enough to haul it!!

Total weight.

I couldn't find any other weights for similar builds so here is unsprung weight.

I forgot to remove the 44lb spool of wire from the passenger side floorboard, so it's actually 2928 full of tools and fuel. Is this your finished weight, or weighing where it's at now?

Nice.

My weights are with fuel. No tools, coil springs, or front drive shaft.

Spring rate calculations.

Sprung weight:
FL = 484
FR = 500
RL = 463
RR = 432

Going by the spring tech thread on Pirate 4x4, I took a stab at spring rates needed. My shocks all sit on the axle and are close to vertical.

Front:
490lbs per corner estimate
12 travel
6 of shaft showing at ride height. (target)
2 of preload in the front (8 of compression)
12 upper coil
14 lower coil
I purchased 12x2.5x110lbs and 14x2.5x110lbs
This will give an initial spring rate of 55lbs and a step-up ration of 200%
Should be 8.9" of compression but I keep seeing people not go light enough on the rates. We will see how it works for me.

Rear:
450lbs per corner estimate
14 travel
7 of shaft showing at ride height (target)
3 of preload in the rear (10 of compression)
14 upper coil
16 lower coil
I purchased 14x2.5x70lbs and 16x2.5x100lbs
This will give an initial spring rate of 41lbs and a step-up ration of 243%
Should be 10.9" of compression but see above.

Springs might be here this weekend. I'll post up results about ride height.
