Yeah, The pics were mock up pics. Loose fitting so that I can position my IFS box in the right location.
I tell you it drives 10X better on the road then with my Push pull/stock set up. It returns to center...unlike my stock set up. I had to always have a hand on the wheel.
Anyway, I don't have a steering damper. Don't know if I need one at this time. I did drive up on my trailer fender and it didn't feel jerky. Time will tell.
Mike

I'll see if I can snap a few pics later on in the week.

Rock lights

Installed my front rock lights...and if you notice she is all dressed in black. It kind of started with the halfs doors, then the front(dovetail) and might as well do the rear. the only thing left is the camo dashboard.

Thanks to RVREDDOG and MUDAHOLIC for helping in finishing my front square driveshaft.

Big thanks to Razorback for helping out yesterday. We manage to install my power steering cooler and fab up another rear drive shaft with parts laying around and a Pipe that Snick gave me at his 1 yr Anniversary run.
here is the cooler installed to assist future hydro assist.

John prepping the slip spine for welding the the tubing.

I put the grill and light back on while John continued working on rear drive shaft.

my new drive shaft is a half inch longer. Mistake on my part sense I didn't take into account the difference in rear yokes....I used a front one in the rear.

here is a pic of the difference in tubing thickness. The left one is the new one I used and the right is what Toyota uses.

Drive shaft unlimited beat up one next to homemade one.
D.U. drive shaft $160
The one I made FREE.

I'll keep the bent one as a spare.

a pic of my plating welded up for my IFS box.

A drop hanger is in store for the front of my leafs. That should yield me 2" of lift with 5.5" shackles in the rear. I will be running rears up front in combination with spare leafs from the front. The rears up front should move my axle forward 2" for better approach angle. I should start on that after the Texas summer run trip in June.

I won't make the trees run...to much $$$
But I did order my hydro assist from TG.
Things to do list.
Tap steering gear box (Done)
weld on brackets for ram (Done)
fab up front drop hanger. (done 5/12/07..Thanks Rastus for letting me use your )
order or fab up 5.5" rear shackles
Mix current front leafs with rear leafs to make front leaf springs.
Redo front square drive shaft.
fab up front shock tower
That should give me a better approach angle.
But, they way I work.LOL I will be happy just installing the hydro assist.
I still need to work on the surge brakes on the trailer. Looks Like I may need a new master cyl. the little shock that is hiding is rusted all up. I think that is why I get this slip/bang sound after stopping and taking off again. I bent the front jack pretty damn good so that needs to be replaced. I have jacks stands in front of the trailer because I don't trust that Jack. So I do have a lot that needs to get done before the Texas Summer Run in June.

A few pics of my front hanger. Keep in mind I never welded with a stick before. One stick to practice and the rest is history.

All cut and tacked in. I will round the ends and drill holes once I am ready to install it.

Now the ugly side of welding. I think I did better on the second side.LOL

Feeling somewhat cold. I cranked her up a turn.

A tad to hot....half turn down from before.

As you can see the 2" tubing isn't really square. It took two or three passes to fill it in. I feel it's going to hold up just fine. She is becoming more trailer queen...the more mods I do.
Waiting on my TG hydro assist to come in. Still need to get some shackles and F250 shock towers to start on it.

Some may bash Trail Gear..and that is ok with me. I wouldn't mind MarlinCrawler stuff I just can't afford it.
Mike

Got run need to get some double male fittings #6 JIC fittings. Going to read up on T.G. web cite and have at it.

Just got off the phone with T.G. #6 JIC fitting seems to be the same as a 1/4" NPT fitting.....which Marlin Crawler has lots of info about taping a steering gear box.
I'm still going to take the 90 degree fitting and double check for peace of mind.

nope they aren't. JIC has a 37* flare on it and pipe has no flare. yes a #6 JIC or AN will screw into 1/4 npt but it will not seal.
