Someone school me in 10bolts/D44 30 spline conversion...

I got a 72 D44 8 lug with the old style lockouts..I want to convert to the "newer" hub so I can get some 30 spline outer shafts...I think I need to convert my spindles and hubs from an 8 lug 10 bolt or newer D44? right??..Do I need to change my rotors too? I want to keep my current knuckles...Some one get me some guidance!! Thanks in advance...
Here's what I got:

i think you got it backwards. your d44 has 30 spline inner shafts, a ten bolt has 28 or 30 depending on year.

both of those axles use the same 19 spline stub axle shafts so converting from internal to external would essentially serve no purpose except for finding replacement lockouts is alot easier.

Extrenal lockouts like in the picture above are very weak.

Exactly. Thanks for clarifiying that. I am well aware that the dana 44 is 30 spline inners and 19 outers, so I am not backwards...I am also aware that the external lock outs are weak, thats why I am trying to upgrade the front end...
So back to the original question:
I want to convert these 8 lug dana 44 knuckles to the "newer" hubs so I can get some 30 spline RCV shafts and run some 30 spline "slugs"...I just want to know if there is a spicific year -year newer hub off a 10 bolt/dana 44 that I can get to keep the 8 on 6.5 pattern...Do I need to change spindles too( I think I do but im not 100% sure) and will my current rotors have to change or are they all the same? If I had a "newer" than 72 axle laying around I would just compare the 2 side by side..But I don't so I asking you guys...
I know the waggy outers would work, but its the wrong wheel bolt pattern...

Thanks!

You need the spindles for the internal type hubs (6 lug will work also), stub shafts, and the wheel hubs. The 6 and 8 lug axles also use the same locking hubs. Your rotors and backing plates should be the same.

The only change in calipers I'm aware of was the switch from standard to metric threads on the banjo bolts that hold the hose to the caliper. They will both bolt to the same backing plates and use the same pads.

I think the calipers changed too in the 3/4 after 72-73...I have C502 calipers on my D44...I checked a 81 3/4 k20 and it says C531 on autozone..So I bet I need the backing plate and calipers..I think the post above for the 6 lug to 8 lug conversion is what I need..."newer" than 72-73 3/4 stuff from the knuckle out to the lockout...

It looks like the RCV shafts are a little wider than the GM spindle ( dont quote me for this info)...and the spindle has to be bored out for proper clearence.. I may wait and see if RCV fixes this issue because I dont want thin walled spindles...

Im not running Rocks because this jeep is going to be street legal..and a 60 front is overkill for what I am going to be doing at this point...The RCV's are the way to go if I can get them in the axle ..

The calipers are a different part number because of the metric changeover.
