2011 mud bogs

Has anyone heard anything about the permit BS for the mud bogs in Feb? Haven't seen anything in the papers or the net in a while.

I got a trans for ya Luke. I tried to reply to your pm but not sure if it went through cause my phone was acting jiggy.

I feel pretty sure that they are going to enforce the permits but thats not going to stop people from going that weekend.

It's 15 north of Amarillo on hwy 287. It's usually the last weekend of February.

Count me in on this retard fest. Last year was my first year and I wasn't able to bring my rig. Nothing is going to get in the way of me bringing my junk this year.

No, never got your PM. I'll call ya sometime. . . I know everyone will show up, just wondering how it is going to affect everything. Saw a thing on facebook where someone was trying to get votes on the band for what they called the "Canadina River Music Festival" or some crap like that. The band is cool and everything, but I think they ought to do it somewhere besides the main friggin entrance!

873/4ton just gettin started
i talked to a guy they call stomper about a month ago he said NO mud bogs
or sand drags because the county wants somewhere in the area of 15grand
for the permit and things that go along with it, however everyone i talk to are going either way, they can stop the organized races but that cant keep population out,

that being said, i work for Goodyear tires commercial truck center (wingfoot)
and in our recent D.O.T recertification class there was something we all need to know, starting Jan. 1st 2011 all vehicals and trailers with a gross weight of 10,001 lb loaded must comply with federal and or state D.O.T inspections,
this means if your truck is 5500lb and you trailer is 2000lb and you have a 3000lb rig on it your trailer both have to have inspection stickers on them, obviously the truck already will if your from Texas but our N.M. friends have to have D.O.T inspections on both. and in order for us to pass a trailer for inspection other than the normal things(lights, tires, ext.) if its going to be hauling anything over 3500lb it has to be equipped with both brakes and a emergency disconnect brake,
on any trailer and truck with Texas registration a state sticker is required on both and any thing registers out side the state in a state that does not have inspection a federal sticker is required,
also their is some talk in the truckers lounge that a temp scale is going in somewhere between Amarillo and the river, there already is one between Dumas and Amarillo, this is something that we all need to look out for in the past years i have seen people ticketed for some really stupid things both going and coming from the river this is just one more thing they can get us on

Hey, is this Josh? You talkin about the guy that drives the yellow utility bed Chevy? This sounds just like more government intrusion into the everyday fun of individuals and groups. If they don't have a cut in it, we can't do it. I'll talk to Steven too, he talks to Stomper quite a bit.

Wow, this is sad. After 37 years, a local tradition could be killed off due to over reaching government (all for the public good, of course.)

I had heard through the grapevine that someone was going to put the sand drags on. I am not sure about the mud bog. Someone told me the people that were putting on the sand drags think that they found a loophole in the laws for the permits. That is what I heard anyway.

Didn't someone from Hereford sponsor the sand drags last year? I think they own a quad shop or something?
