C.r. 30 mile dash

CANADIAN RIVER 30 MILE DASH
[/SIZE
OFFICIAL RULES

This is a RACE down the river bed. No obstacles as such, just Baja style.
It will be limited to drivers 18 years and up. Valid I.D. will be requested if any staff member questions age, so be prepared.

CLASSES ARE AS FOLLOWS

TRUCKS-STOCK: Any FACTORY bodied rig that is running STOCK STYLE suspension. BOLT ON accessories ONLY. No NOS. Any tire size goes. Factory running gear up to 1 tons will be allowed.

TRUCKS-MODIFIED: Pretty much ANYTHING ELSE. NOS will be allowed in MOD class. Any tire size goes. Any running gear. Any suspension.

BUGGIES-STOCK: VW powered, rear engine, i.e. SANDRAIL. Factory Beetle bodied rigs will also be put into this class.

BUGGIES-MODIFIED: Any SANDRAIL type rig running non-VW power train, i.e. front engine V8 cars.

MOTORCYCLES: ONE class. Bring your riding ability and may the best man/woman win.

ATV'S: SAME as motorcyles. ONE class. Read above.

ALL MOTORCYLE AND ATV RIDERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS AND PROPER PROCTECIVE GEAR. Anyway, it's State Law. NO DOUBLE RIDERS. Also State Law.

TRUCK and BUGGY classes are encouraged to wear helmets, but will not be required. BUGGY classes are also encouraged to wear goggles.

The course will be in the river bed, from just past the train trestle to the pipeline and back. Roughly 30 miles round trip, give or take. There will be a halfway check point where ALL drivers will be required to obtain a card from a staff member to be initialed by driver. They will be kept small, like a business card, so make sure you have some type of pocket if you are in MOTORCYCLE or ATV class. There will be another check point at the turn around at the pipeline, same as halfway point, turn around and stop at halfway check point again, for a total of 3 check points. Drivers will be started in 1 to 2 minute intervals depending on staging and traffic. All drivers will be running along with other classes, but only racing the clock with your particular class.

We will have rover vehicles for assistance, but there will be no OFFICIAL recovery vehicles. CB's are HIGHLY recommended.

Entry fees will be $15.00 per rig, with a cash payout to 1st place in each class. 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a trophy and other prizes.

NO ALCOHOL, ALL LOOSE ITEMS MUST BE TIED DOWN OR REMOVED BEFORE RACING, NO WINERS!!

Let's keep it simple, and most of all, HAVE FUN!

Edit: Each TRUCK class entry and each BUGGY class entry will consist of Driver and Co-Driver only. No exceptions.

soooo, let me see if I get it,
the drivers get blank cards for the staff to initial and give back to the driver?

or, the drivers get 3 blank card to have the staff initial, and the staff keeps
the cards at each check point?

or the drivers get the card at each check?

help me out here...shouldn't the driver initial something for the staff at the check point that the staff retains for proof of that driver having cleared the check?

if an unsavory liar cheat decides to burn a check, and has his own cards to initial,
what proof does the staff have?

Drivers must obtain cards from staff. Each staff member will have plenty of TOP SECRET cards that drivers will have no knowledge of before race time.

After drivers are teched in, as soon as we have at least 3 to start, we will go ahead and start them. Think, EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM! This may seem unfair to some, but show up early, and the earlier you get to start. This only makes it harder on my STAFF!

Sorry guys, but this rule is only to protect myself and my staff. If some youngster were to crash and get injured, I don't want his mommy trying to sue my butt.

Well, I MIGHT make an exception, but don't count on it just yet. I'll have to sleep on it. If PARENTS are willing to sign a waiver, I MIGHT consider letting a few youngsters run. I am a father myself, as well as a grandfather, and I know how protective of my babies I am. I hate to see a kid hurt.

not to mention this is an un-insured, non-sanctioned, un-official
race...

hell, the folks at the Tri-State Fair won't let certain
"height challenged" kids ride certain rides...I personally think
it's kinda stupid on some of the tamer rides, but I won't stand
there and argue with the ride operator.....

anyway, it's up to the race organizers, and they have they final say...
you can't fault someone for wanting to protect themselves
from lawsuits and such....

The kid can drive, I'll give him that. I watched the videos. BUT, can you bring your junk and do this? This is not rock racing. It is more BAJA style desert racing. Anyway, if he brought that rig, he would be in a class all his own. Does anyone in Amarillo or the surrounding area have a rig like that?

If you make a exception for one underage kid then you will have to make one for all. I say rules are rules.

X2 X2 X2.........why show favortism 'cause of one person?

besides, if the young man is such a baddass and so much better
a driver than all of us, maybe he could arrange to be there "off the books"
to show everyone how to race on Sunday....
...oh, and all the folks being accused of being "scared" are the ones putting on the race and are not getting to compete....
