CR Trail Maintenance

Here's the deal. After the past incidences at the river and how some of us care, I thought I would start a communications thread on how and when we can get together and fix/maintain our trials and park.

I talked to Chief of Maintenance Jimmy Muncy today about Harley and you guys fixing the park benches and signs. He was very grateful to us. My main order of business with him was putting some signs up to mark trails and obstacles through out the river. He was excited about that and said it would help with the appearance of the river and make it more organized and enjoyable. Now this was one the Federal side (Rosita Flats). The State side would be put them up at our own risk, which nothing should be said about it if we did.

On that note we need to get some donations rounded up for quickrete and steal plate (1/8?) and pipe to built signs. Jeff at JDP fab said he would cut out the signs once we figured out names and designs. Maybe if someone knows a local business that would donate us steal, quickrete, etc. Tyler Messer said he could get a skidloader to dig the DEAP post wholes we need.

This won't be cheap but I believe it would be fun and neat for the river. Help out the towners and locals to get around. Help make the river seem like a actual off-road park. I know people WILL vandalize the signs but if made them strong enough the only thing they could do is spray paint them which will help keep them from rusting anyways.

So, maybe this thread will be a sticky and open for all of the public to see. Talking to Evan and Harley, they both are for this and had GREAT IDEAS!!!

Give us your input of what to do, ideas, etc. on helping the river look better?

Ill provide 4" pipe for as many signs as we can have built.

We could do smaller, but 4" with a cement base will be near impossible to pull out of the ground.

I'm in the same boat as Mitch. Send me a Paypal address so I can at least help out by donating to the cause.

I'd also like to sign up for a weekend of meth head hunting. Something tells me that picking off one of those loosers at 500 plus yards would be a blast. Hell, I'll even bring a deer feeder with me and load it up with Meth!!!! What's the tag limit on those loosers?

Just weld a X of rebar to the bottom of a 1" pipe or even a piece of the same size rebar and it will not get pulled out.

I weld an X of rebar or small pipe to the bottom of my mail box for the tards that like to run it over. They hit it and the spikes pop out of the ground and take out the oil pan or other vital area. Did not not take long for them to leave my mailbox alone.

I'd like to try and find a sponser for some trash bags. Not cheezy light weight one but strong thick ones you can put a few broken bottles in. I'll buy them if I need but not real sure where to score any like I'm talking. Anyone know? I'll help you guys with the signs as much as ya'll want to do. I'm just real tired of the trash. Thats the first thing people see and the thing that sticks in most peoples mind. Needs to go AWAY!!

I like the idea. However we or you are setting up for pain and sorrow. The kid of low life that burnt the table burnt the tree and messed up the sign will take the things you are proposing to do as a challenge to tear up. I'm not trying to be a pessimist but these people are week minded idiots with nothing better to do. I like the idea of colors to mark trail difficulty. Or shapes. Maybe some reflective tape for night wheeling so you could see the poles and also so you don't run into them? I would pitch in for a work (wheel) weekend and could donate someting, parts or some cash. Let me know. You know this could acutually work!

The trash is the first thing that needs to go but also the hardest! What is your idea on the bags? Hand them out or just go picking up trash? Maybe we can call the prison and see if we donated money to the prison if they would bring out some inmates to pick up the trash and we furnish the trash bags.

I like the reflective tape and shapes to mark trail difficulty! We have talked about this and that's why we make them REALLY REALLY hard to tare up and if they do I would be willing to bet that someone broke their POS doing it!

How much you gonna charge us??

I was thinking of handing out a few but mostly just useing them. I know some of you already do this but if we could all pick up at least two bags of trash each time we went down there to wheel that would help a bunch. Then setup other times to go and have trash pickup. Maybe once a month a trash pick up then everytime we went wheeling...bet that would put a huge dent in it...

I just would like it to be clean so that the next time one of these jerkoffs goes down there they say" just look at all the trash...er...uh..wait where is all the trash?"

We need to get us a club together, or join up with a local one, and get some large scale clean-ups going on like the WT Outlaws do. Theres alot of people out there that still care about the river, that arent as into the crawling scene. I know several motorcycle guys, as well as a bunch of mud guys from Pampa that would/should help out for these kind of improvments. I'll help as much as I can on the trash, rebuilding tables, signs etc. WHERE DO I SIGN UP?!

club, OK we can call it "Canadian River Crawlers"! Just kidding.
I think we need to make it a river friendly club name, like Snick said awhile back, not just for people like us but for everyone who wants to see the river cleaned up.

Sounds like a pretty good name to me. I'll help however I can. Some of you may not want to be associated with a "Jeep Club" but the jeeps exclusive here in town would probably do more clean ups if pushed and joined on river clean up days and work days. They have many work trips at the canyon Im sure to save another off road area they'd pitch in. Just a suggestion.

The more people involved the better.

club

I am not real wild about being in the club scene. I think we could talk to the clubs that are already established and get something put together. I am more for the group that we hang out with doing things together. Work with all the other clubs and we can get a lot accomplished. Just personally though, I do not want any part of the politics and all the little clics that clubs always have. Too many problems. I will help in any way I can though.

Rather than a club, set up a mailing list to keep subscribers informed of events, news, and issues involving the river.

Basicly its going going to be a clean up and maintanance club more less. I dont forsee any BS other than a montly cleanup being arranged. I'd sport a sticker on my jeep. Of coarse its a "jeep" so i may not be entitled to one

Im in. Maybe it could be called Canadian River Cleanup Crew. Kinda corny but it states what we're about. Plus it doesn't make any designations as to jeeps or yotas or chevys. Everyone gets involved.
