River today

Always an adventure. Not more than 15 minutes from unloading my Bronco this kid comes up to me and askes if I can pull him out. I just finished eating my sndwitch, so I was fat and happy, so I said sure hop in. We start heading down the river and I ask him what he is driving. He says an F-350. I told him there was no way my Bronco would be able to move that tank but I would give it a try.

I gave him my tow cable to hook on to the back of his truck and I started un spooling my winch. I hooked the tow cable to my snatch block then ran my winch cable though it and back to the Bronco. Started pulling. Front tires dug into the sand, but the truck was too heavy. Just kept pulling me twords it. A guy in a Jeep showed up and offered to anchor to the back of me. Truck was still too heavy. Winch was pulling both of us twords the truck.

I drove around to the front and tried that, with the same result. Truck too heavy. Told him to call a tow truck. I did bend his front bumper pretty good though.

BTW, the kid was only 16 years old and this was his second time to the river, and I'm sure the last for a while. He said he just bought the motorcycle that is in the back of his truck last night. I told him he is going to have to sell it to pay for the tow truck bill. I told him your supposed to park the F-350 at the bridge and ride the motorcycle down the river... lol

Yeah, I forgot to take pictures until the tow truck showed up. Here are a few of the truck in the river.

On the way to the river

Tow truck

Looks fun

The tow truck pulled him out pretty easily. It did make the tow truck's front rise up into the air though.

I had not been out to the river in a while. This is what the road to the comp area looks like now. Looks like the ledge gave way. Glad I was not under it.

I tried to climp over, did not work very well

I got a movie of the tow truck pulling the F-350 out. I will try to upload it later. It's kind of blair witch style. All shaky and stuff.

looks like fun....some of us were going out for sunday, but I can't make it,
as my parts got delayed....my buddies will be there, though..
......soooo, looks like it will be a couple of more weekends before I make it down to play.....I tried to find a line over that rockfall as well.....but my rear locker was toast and threatening to kill the ring and pinion....

Damn, that could have really sucked for someone in the wrong place at the wrong time! I cant wait to come back up there and wheel. I think I'm going to try and make it up for Zach's birthday run.

river

I went to the river today and saw this as well. We have a couple pics as well. This ought to give the rock crawlers around nere something to play on. Just be careful, the rest of this cliff looks like it could go at any time.
