Thanks to all who helped put on the Canadian River Truck Challenge!

I'd like to thank everyone who had a hand in putting on this event. Sorry we had a bit more carnage in the stock class than I'm sure you guys were expecting, but it sure was a great time for most everyone. Hope this grows year to year and more modified and open class vehicles turn out for it. Considering that there were a few novices in the stock class such as me, you guys did a great job running and keeping the event on track.

Thank you.

oh... and I hope someone can post up some good pictures of the maximum carnage winner (victim). I didn't have my camera with me and even if I had I probably would have forgotten in the heat of the moment to whup it out.

I took some close-ups of the front end when they made it back to the staging area. My other shots are pretty pathetic, but I'll post those up too here in a little bit.

And as for the comp, only two words come to mind right now, KICK ***!!!!!!!!!!!

To everyone that had a hand in putting this thing on, thank you for putting on such a great event. Can't wait to see how this thing grows.

Pics postrollover:

Only pics I took of the truck. I did notice that the where the fuel filler attached got tweaked pretty good and the cage may have got bent slightly on the cross bar in the middle. When I was talking to the driver, he also said that there was a wire that pulled loose. When we were leaving, he stalled out before crossing the water, I don't know what happened, but when I finally got done getting strapped across 100 yards of sand hell by possibly the three drunkest guys in the state, I did call my buddy who was co-dawg for Trent and he said that they had got restarted and was heading out.

And if anyone was wondering, Trent trailer the Yota down there, so he wasn't stuck trying to drive the poor truck 3 hours north.

I had a blast!!

Huge thanks to all who steped up to sponser this event!

Thanks to everyone who helped organize/run this event, it was very cool. Best $15 I've spent in a long time.

I wish I would have had a camera to take some pics with but someone "NEEDED" it more than me...

FYI- My crew "recovered" a front axle assembly that looks
like a Jeep D30 or D44 front long shaft/ujoint/stub shaft
we found it on the course after the run was over..

If you or anyone you know who's this is, please call
Greg, as I have it for you...

Me and a few buddies from Lubbock went to the river on sunday. I have to say you all put on a good event. We watched the races for a few hours and wheeled the rest of the day. I want to say thanks for everything you Amarillo guys do to put on events at the river and all the work you put in to keep the river open to us out of towners. Keep up the good work

I just wanted to thank everyone for the great hospitality this weekend. We had a great time covering this event for Mud Life. I took over 1000 pictures between the two days. I should have all of the posted by the middle part of the week. I should have pictures of everyone that ran in the truck challange. I was in the wrong spot when the yellow toyota rolled as I had a tree in my way but you can see all three roll overs. The mud bog provided a lot of awsome shot as well.

My email address is [email protected] Please keep me posted anytime there is an event going on and I will try to make it.

See you guys next year!

I got 2nd in modified with a time of 1:40. I asked the guy that beat me 3 times what his name was and I still can't remember . He's on the board and said he lives close to "full top". He had a sweet ranger with an exo, v8 and tons real nice guy. His time was 1:37 and third was 1:55. Clint won stock but I don't remember his time(it was fast). Jimmy won Unlimited....

I'm still ramped up!

I think Clint's time was 1:12. It was FAST!!. Don't remember the names, but times were 1st. 1:12, 2nd 1:17, 3rd 1:37. My wife was time keeper, so I'm going off of memory. We all had a blast. It will be bigger and better next year.

Hey, I have the results!!! Here we go......(times are in minutes/seconds)

STOCK CLASS= our third place finisher was Cam Bruggeman(sp?)
driving an 1989 black XJ with a time of 1:19
The second spot went to Matt Lewis in a green '99 XJ. Matt finished
with a time of 1:17..hell of charge and SOOOOO close on the time, too!
The top dog in STOCK was none other than local fav' Clint Landry and his bright yellow 2002 TJ...his time, 1:12..very clean driving, and Clint knew just when to hammer down, as well!

MOD CLASS= the third spot went to Brian Ridley sporting a white 1992 YJ Jeep and pulling a time of 1:55.....second place was hit by another local boy and crowd favorite, Mr."Awesome" himself, Harley Lewis in his Formula #57 Toyota buggy. His time was 1:40. First place was nabbed by Don Cope, with a time of 1:37..Mr. Cope was driving an exo-ed 1986 red Ford Ranger that performed flawlessly..

OPEN CLASS=we started with only three entries in OPEN, and finished with just two of them....one competitor chose to bow out for unknown reasons
(insert chicken squaks here, Mr. Awesome)
Second place was claimed by Zack Thompson in a heavily modified 1997
red S-10 Chevy with a time of 3:55
Top honors for OPEN fell on yet another local, Jimmy Nunn and his completely
sick "1967" bright green and silver monster buggy, riding high on 49" Irocks and duece Rockwells...Jimmy's winning time was 3:19

Make no mistake, as you can tell the time were very close and the comp was
won by the drivers who showed no fear, yet had the skill to pilot their rigs to victory..

..one of my favorite moments was watching Jimmy's huge buggy come to a complete halt as he entered the rock section of the course..a pretty large chunk of stone reached up and grabbed the front axle, but without skipping a beat, Jimmy had that beast of a rig backed up and moving
forward to claim the win...it was cool to see that axle take that kind of abuse and not flinch!!!

HUGE thanks again to the folks that helped us out on recovery, with special
kudos to Mike Muroco and his winch on the 1949 Overland Willys, Kurt Grant
and his 1996 VW monster Beetle, my buddy Brad and his TJ, and Gorilla, aka
James, who was "Johnny-on-the-spot" during both of our recoveries..

EXTRA special thanks to my crew, Luke and his wife Tonya, Josh, Mic, Stone, Drew, Todd, my little bro Kyle(bang up job keeping things rolling on the start/finish line!)also to Rodney, Tosha, and the rest of you that stepped up to help on the fly..

I cannot forget all my sponsors, Mark with Hoot's Pub, Chuckie of Chuck's Auto Parts, Bubba Ray of Black Mesa Offroad, James and Copperhead Fab,
Donnie with King Automotive, Gerald aka Rockchip, for letting us use all that yellow rope, Brady with Matco Tools and all the other folks that spent their time and money to pull this off in only 6 short weeks....

Most of all, I thank all of you that came out to race and to watch..this was for you guys!!!! We could not have done it without you....

I was so glad to see the race area damn near void of trash...we only had to pick up a few empties that weren't there when we started..

Overall, a great first time for this event...a couple of mangled Toyotas aside, and no injuries, WE HAD A BLAST!!!! We will definitely do this again
and welcome all ideas and suggestions!!!!

Thanks again, Greg

You could have heard Jimmy's front axle hitting that first rock from the meadows! Great rig, and good driving. Thanks to Greg for putting this thing on, I really enjoyed myself just helping out. Maybe next year my junk will be ready to participate. Im thinking 1 tons.

I had fun. I wasnt planning on running, but I got talked into it. I was really impressed by how well my little truck did since it's not really setup to go fast as it is now. A few tweaks (shifters would be nice lol) to the truck and some more seat time should make it a lot better.

For the most part I thought it went pretty smoothly and there were some pretty good prizes. Hope to be back again next year.
