Truck Scales Help

My wife and I are moving from San antonio to CO and I am taking a load next weekend of the items the movers won't take. The Air Force will pay by the pound, for the items I move. I am getting an empty weight tomorrow and will need a full weight at some point in the panhandle of texas. I will be traveling West on I-10 to junction then up hwy 84 to lubbock and on into Amarillo Via I-27. I'll continute North on 87 thru dalhart and into Clayton NM. I am leaving here before sunrise this friday the 15th and plan to be in that area around mid-day.

I would love for a simple little feed store/recycler or something of that nature in a small town that I could stop at and get my truck with a car-hauler weighed, but am open to suggestions. I don't really want to get lost in one of the cities. I would probably be nearing sweetwater when places begin to open so anything north of there on my route would be prefect.

If you have names of busniesses, I'd be happy to call and ask etc. Thanks very much for the help!

J.D.

JD,
Most of the Love's and Flying J's have a set of scales you could use.

It's off the beaten path but not far. Bushland Coop, Bushland, tx. Also check the elevators in Happy and Tulia.

There's a small truck stop on the north side of New Deal that has a CAT scale. It's right off of I-27 on the right side.

There's a Flying J at 4th and I-27 on the left in Lubbock. I'm not sure if they have a scale or not; I've never paid attention. There is also another truck stop just before you hit the loop on 84, I'm also unsure if that one has a scale. I think the name of it is Chisolm or something like that.

There's also a Rip Griffin outside of Tulia on 27.

There is a CAT scale at the Valero truckstop on the South Side of Dumas. Its where i weigh my junks.

Most all elevators up here in the panhandle will weigh you, sometimes without a charge even.....

If you need a print out as proof just use a cat scale. It is only around $9.00 to use. The truck stops are happy for you to use them.

For a big truck it is $7.00 to weigh -- not sure on trucks smaller than that but most all the truck stops have scales with printed scale tickets for your proof.

As said before, about any grain elevator will weigh you for free. Be sure and fill your tank before weighing.

i believe that is the one I called yesterday and they'll weight me. Easy access, on my way, done deal!

Good advice on filling up before I weigh.

For anyone who cares, my 2002 F-350 Short bed, super cab, 4x4 with an ARE topper on it weighs 7400, which is about 500 more than I thought. My big tex car-hauler weighs 1800.

Thanks for all the help guys. If you see a blue superduty pulling a "mostly" white bronco, honk and wave!

Well if you got some free time and some extra money Ive had some good times at the Petro in Amarillo. Better yet the TA there. Scales at all of them stops. Make sure you hit up Buckles Lounge while in town too.
