I have noticed that Brian, ElPaso has better deals but kinda far. I also have my 88 coupe I may trade for one or trade with cash for a nice one.

LOL this is the second one I build and get to the end (this one needs better tires and some a little interior work) the other was being daily drivin by my nephew. I told him if you can afford the gas you can take it, he drove it about 3 months then I sold it. Im posting it today on TDR see what happens maybe I can get extra cash for a tj.

Re: looking for a jeep

Yeah, they work great... much stronger than the standards offered then.. jeep used basically same automatic from early 80's through early 2000s. My cj is factory v8/auto, personally id be all over an auto yj..

Thanks for the response, I hope a few more people chyme in on the subject. I did a little research and the autos are 3 speeds in those years im guessing they will be a few mpgs behind a manual if the 4 speeds are od's. I guess ill have to do some checking on that too.
thanks, Leo

Re: looking for a jeep

4 speeds are not od on manuals. The 5 speeds are. Ax-5 and ax-15 5 speeds leave a lot to be desired though... peugot is just as bad.. they 3 speed autos were used all the way up into the 2000's.. yjs did not have a good selection for manual trannys, cjs were not much better(especially on a 5 speed)..
