never take the fuel plate out . spring and stud goes crunch at the bottom of the injector pump . in oct it will get done . that will give you time to get exhaust and cold air intake . call me on the exhaust . i can get it at cost .

that dowel pin is there for a reason. the proper fix is to get a new timing cover where the hole for the dowel pin is not drilled through and through.

also, you might have 5 gear fail on you. mine just did about 3 weeks ago. not cool. but they say some trucks never do it.

your right it is there for a reason . to line it all up . after its all lined up and bolted down it serves no purpose .

on the 5th gear they make a full splined shaft . it cost a little more than the stock one but its worth every penny

not what i heard. i heard it can move around after its been bolted down if there's no dowel pin to hold it in place. and it makes sense because the bolt holes in the cover are bigger than the size of the bolts, thus allowing it room to move.

this is what i did. close to $1000 for the "silver" version. didn't want to spend another few hundred for the "gold" version.

lugging or towing is not what makes it fail. its the slack in the tranny. when you let off the accelerator and that slack hits, thats what makes the nut back off. there's no way you can tell if its coming or not. there are no warning signs.

your right . there is no warning when it is about to happen . i have had a few of them pop off . it just happens . i have found the full spline shaft for $380 with the spacer and nuts .

there are 2 more dowel pins . one behind the cam and another one closer to the crank . i dont see it moving .
