02 duramax diesel questions!

i been looking for a diesel for awhile and i have found a 2002 chevy duramax diesel for about 9k ithas 212k miles should i buy it? do you think it will last me awhile?

here is the info he gave....He said it was not used for hauling anything much bigger than a boat.

New injector pump, shocks, leveling kit , new starter, new batteries all done within the last year and have paperwork to prove

SO let me know what yall think. i am trying to find a good 4 door, short bed, diesel, 4x4, for around 10k or less.

If it ain't had injectors they are due and could need replacing soon. If it smokes at idle it's probably them. They are 6k at a dealer and about 3 at a mom an pop place.

Yep, biggest concerns will be the injectors on those LB7s.

Dam they cost 3 grand for injectors alone! It is leather seat, power everything. U think it will last another 100k I would not be hauling much just my 77 scout and maybe a boat. Other than that I don't think it will be used for much other than dd and going to the coast

Yeah it will probably last. But ur not gonna get away from those injectors. Diesels are expensive to maintain. Pump and injectors are a medium wear item. Yes some last a long time, and yes the rig will keep running. But not like it should. Pump and injectors should be replaced every 100k together. But, u could get lots more miles out of them over 100k. But I wouldn't buy one thinking I'm gonna get lucky and not have to replace them.

Cheaper then buying a new one for 60k though.

I find it odd that it had an injector pump and not injectors. I would ask more questions and maybe check the VIN at a dealer for injector change at some point. They had a lawsuit and big warranty deal on those injectors and I would be surprised if they have not been done. The question is when. 100K is about average for a set of them. You can do it yourself if you are handy and can read directions. You can get a set for about $2400. However, if it starts and runs good with no smoke or raw fuel smell the injectors are probably okay right now at least. You can also check the injectors with a hand held programmer. My diablo sport will do it. If it has a programmer on it you might get lucky and check them.
