With those mods, I would stay away from it. Then again I would stay away from any dodge with a gasser in it......

I have never been a fan of dodge gas jobs but I have a low budget now and I want a dodge truck no matter what and its in my price range. I wouldn't think those mods wOuld hurt it that bad? Any sugestions on great reliable, preferably diesel trucks, for under $8000?

I'm not saying they the mods hurt it, but they reflect how the person was and treated it before you. Its kind of like wanting to marry a hooker......she may look nice but you know she was treated bad by the previous owners.......Under 8k will get a high milage 1-2nd Gen cummins.....

Haha, yeah, you, do have a point. Do you know anyone that is selling one around that price around southern Dallas? He did say raced it every now and then but even if he did that sounded like a pretty good price for that truck.

Usually those two things don't out weigh the higher cost of fuel, tires and maintenance. My wife and I both daily drive cummins trucks, so i definetly feel the extra exspense. The money you are wanting to spend will only get a high milage truck which will probably end up costing you even more. I would stick to a gas truck with a v8. Try a Chevrolet 1500......
Don't get in a big hurry to buy, and you will come across a good deal.

FWIW: I cannot stress enough how much you need to stay away from the dodge you speak of. The programmer is a dead giveaway. Not to mention that the genius put three inch exhaust on a stock motor. Anyone with a brain knows that big exhaust is only good at WOT and actually effects the torque on the bottom end.

Agreed with just about everything Rebelrider said, except I would buy nothing but a diesel if I were you. I would buy a 2nd gen 12 valve Dodge, you can find them for around $5000 and use the extra money to rebuild everything that needs it.

Here is one for $2500, just needs a injection pump. You can buy alot of parts for $5500. This guy will even sell you another engine for $800 more. LOL
