06' Dodge Auto Tranny ?
When my truck (cummins) sits for a while, at least a week or so, the tranny takes a while to engage.
I start it up and go to D or R and it acts like it is not in gear. After it idles for a while ( 1 minute or so) it just engages smoothly and goes. If I drive it regularly, there is no issue. Almost like something leaks out and takes a while to pump back to where it is supposed to be. Any ideas? |

Good fluid level, 5K since fluid change.
I think it may be related to the type of tranny fluid they used. Probably the cheapest thing available. Only 70K on vehicle and mainly hiway miles. Thanks |

What about the filter? Was it replaced when the fluid was "changed".

Do tranny filters have an anti drainback valve like oil filters if so that could be bad letting trans fluid drain out of the torque converter or something along those lines. I would change the filter first

Filter, no, but there might be something in the plumbing.
