08 6.7 Cummins EGR DPF Delete finally!

After many months of deliberation and cussin and discussin I finally bit the bullet and got the egr/dpf delete kit. I ended up going with the H&S MiniMaxx (thats all thats available currently) and a proflow 5" turbo back exhaust. It was really simple to install and took longer to get the old 400# exhaust off than install the tuner and new exhaust. It took probably less than 30 minutes to install the new.

I know there are a lot of 6.7 haters and I was close to the same but after doing the deletes I'll never go back.

Its pretty amazing how much more power its got with just the exhaust on and the tuner even on stock. Its like driving my last 5.9 with the Bully Dog turned up. It has little to no smoke what so ever which I like a lot. I dont like all the smoke anymore like when i was younger.

Now Im ready to take a good road trip and see what mileage diffrenence is and how much better it will tow.

Just wanted to shead a little light on the subject. I know there are a few other 6.7s being used for towrigs around Texas4x4.

looks like pretty solid around town 16 and highway right at 18.2 so far. I think it'll be better on a longer run. Im happy with that. Its a lot better than 12-15.

I think a longer trip would really tell the tale.

My 08 has been deleted since 20k miles (75k now).
Mods:
1. I put a glacier diesel 2 micron fuel filter kit on it when they first started shipping (bad fuel causes bad injectors, leading to a bad cylinder and a rebuild).
2. a. I did homemade sims and a delete pipe, had to clear codes all the time it was a pain the arse.
2. b. Smarty and 4" for a 06 and I built my EGR block off plates and put on a used Juice w/att for gauges (I put the pyro sensor in the rear EGR block plate.
2. c. Removed Smarty and Juice and installed H & S minimaxx.
3. Added H &S Overdrive transmission tuning.

I did the mods so that I can go back to stock and have no physical tracks, although the computer would look like a giant red flag I am sure.

I have a feeling the stock trans is going to go out between now and 100k miles when I am in Ft. Walton Beach FL and the aftermarket warranty will have to pay Suncoast to fix my trans (wink, wink).

After 100k I am going to put glacier diesel intake heater delete and open up the intake horn/delete the intake valve and change the intercooler piping.
All mods are for mileage gains/increased longevity. I wish I could have H & S just put stock and mild on the Minimaxx. There was plenty of towing power in stock form and I refuse to hot rod anymore.

I get decent MPG's about 14 running around. I never get out on the highway without a trailer so not sure what it would get empty highway. It's a 4x4 long bed auto with front and rear replacements headache rack toolbox 285 nitto dura grapplers, it's pretty heavy.

I had 5 or 6 5.9L Cummins trucks before this one with lots of mods and they did not tow like this truck. I would not take for the exhaust brake and huge torque I have now.

What gears ar ein your truck? My heads up (Lie-O- Meter) display says about 19-20 Hwy and AVG. 15 MPG in town...But that heads up is pretty generious I think..Ive got 3.73s and the 265 tires it came with....I ve heard that these trucks have bad MPG's with the 4.10 ratios.....My truck is still all stock, but Im interested what I would gain with the DPF/EGR delete set up...Keep us updated, ive read some threads on the internet, but some of those guys have ridiculous claims...Id rather hear of any pros/cons from someone local...

With 3.73 gears my mileage went up about 2 mpg across the board. Slightly better towing mpg's when I had the Smarty than with H&S. MPG's is main reason I did it but the lack of crap being puked back into the intake and the oil staying clean forever are great side effects if you plan to keep the truck past 100k miles.

I have a friend of mine that has an 07.5 mega cab dually 4x4 as his daily on 35's with the dpf delete, 5" exhaust with donaldson muffler (keeps it quiet) smarty, silver series 66mm turbo and some other supporting mods and he is very happy with the outcome, other than having to rebuild the transmissiion already. It has I wanna say roughly 75,000 miles, but he drives from the corpus christi area to colorado. I wanna say he has been averaging 19mpg though.

We also just put a dpf delete kit, exhaust and a smarty on a truck at my buddies shop about 2 weeks ago for a hot shot truck. He went from around 7mpg loaded to 12mpg so he is very pleased.
