12v/nv4500/205 in 84 k30. Who dun it?

Nobody in the innanets has a straight answer. Seems the options are endless and everyone seems to get misinformed along the way.
Current state of the truck is an 84 k30 dually regular gab.
454/th400/round 205 60/70 3.73
End result ideally is 12v/4500/205

1994 12 valve. Currently connected to a 47rh 2wd.
I need a dodge or chevy clutch setup inside the bellhousing?

Which bellhousing do I need? Dodge chevy or advance adapters.
Slave cylinders, internal or external?
I'd like a hydraulic clutch, but is that required? Hard to find em kinda.
Will factory gm clutch crap work or is there hidden secrets in this part too?

Should I get a dodge trans or 96+ gm? Is there a difference? I will need 32 spline chevy output, but I think I need dodge input?

I have my round pattern long input 205 and swapping the short input is clear cut. But how do you shift the damn thing?

Why can't I use a dodge 205? Seriously theres ten different answers these goobers out there think is right, and nobody took a picture or has a part number. All heresay and nothing is legit. Then when people complete the project they leave the board cause they're done. Can't answer post swap questions.

Sorry guys, but I gotta set something straight so I can sleep at night.

Fred on this board did this on his crewcab same body style. Very clean, looks factory.. get with him, he had done lots of research and it came out really good. He has had it on the road for a few years now.

i do not think you can put the 32 spline input into the dodge 205 without machinging the case. The dodge 29 spline is MUCH stronger than the chevy 32 spline setup, try and find a Dodge 29 spline np205 (behind a getrag) and use that behind a dodge nv4500..

Same exact housing just different imput shafts. Both are the "big bore" case. People get money for them too as i found out the hard way...

Ahh, was unaware of that. Is the clocking the same between them? I know the chevy vs dodge 208 has different clocking, not sure on the 205.

I believe so. The 32 spline figure 8 chevy 205 I had is the exact same as the 29 spline figure 8 dodge 205 I have in the garage other than imput shafts of course. I tried to find just a 29 spline imput shaft but couldn't so wound up buying the whole ca$e.

Pretty much. I snagged that 94 dodge for a good price and set the k30 to the side. Original plan was to work on it here and there. Haven't done much wrenching this year anyways.

Find an adapter and flex plate from a bread truck with the 4bt, it will bolt up to the 6BTs just the same. They were mated to TH400 or 700rs. Then run as low of a stalled converter as you can find with the chevy trans and running gear.

Yeah the easy way to do it if anyone is wondering is to sell both trucks. Before you tear em apart.

i have a 12 valve to a dodge nv4500 with a chevy nv4500 32 spline output shaft and tail housing With a spacer, (AAProduct# 50-6910)(it is non clocking) i mated it to my chevy 205 6 bolt round

All dodge nv4500s will bolt to a cummins, but not all gm nv4500s will, so do, some dont. Best bet is to start with a dodge and swap to chevy output and tail housing

any combination using the gm bread van adapter will put the transmission you use at a 7 degree angle

my master cylinder is from a 96 f350, slave is from a second gen dodge. works with my south bend great, i did have to extend the push rod on the master with a coupling nut

Areoquip makes an adapter from the o ring and roll pin style fitting to a 3 an. Then buy a 3 an stainless braided line to plumb the two

The line from the 96 ford master cylinder will work as well, and it is braided stainless

page 2 of this thread i do a rundown of the swap

29 spline is stronger, but you really have to be pushing alot of power to break the gm 32
