Question 1993 Chevy C1500 tranny swap problems

Hi, I have a 1993 Chevy C1500 ext. that's mostly a work truck. I'm installing a corporate 14bolt/10.5" dually rear with with heavy duty overload springs from a wrecked tow truck and 3" suspension lift in the front next week. I need this because of all the heavy equip. I need to hall for work (/ metal fabricator/ machinist). It's only 2wd with a 305 and auto. As soon as I track down a 1979 ford dana 60 front assembly I'll be installing it with a NP203/205 doubler system. The problem is that I want to do a standard tranny swap into it. It origionally had a 4L60E tranny that died the first week I bought it and around here there were no replacements to be found so I put in a 700R4 out of a 1988 C1500 But the engine won't run right now because of the missing tranny sensors and the different style of VSS sensor, also the speedo stoped working. Before I can even attempt the manual swap I have to figure a way around the sensor problems. This is a daily driver and a weekend warrior. First Question #1 does the 700r4 have the same 40 tooth VSS gear as the 4L60E does so I can just install a VSS from a 4L60E so my speedo and engine will start working right or do I need to tear down the tranny and replace the gear? Question #2 I want to put in a manual tranny, I found a 1990 chevy 1/2ton with a 5spd but don't know if it is a NV4500 or some other type. Would the NV4500 or the one in this truck have the same 40 tooth gear and VSS as the 4L60E? Question #3 Can I pull the eprom chip from a 1993 manual ECM and put in my 1993 auto ECM to stop the tranny sensor codes and allow my engine to run right again? OR can I plug the Manual ECM from a 1993 into the Auto wiring harness or do I need to replace the complete ecm/ harness and everything? Question#4 Will the engine need some new sensors installed from a manual engine for it to run right also? Thanks, Tracker.

A 90 model five speed will likely be the nv3500. AFAIK, they didnt start using the nv4500 until 92 or 93.

You can swap computers or the ecm chip to solve your running problems. You should also be able to just have the chip reprogammed to eliminate the transmission inputs.

tranny swap

Thanks. when I first put in the 700R4 and started getting the problems and codes I ordered in an ECM for a 1988 truck with a 700R4 only to find the plugs were different. I just figured I'd ask so people that knew if a 1993 manual ECM chip would fit in my Auto ECM or if the whole Manual ECM would plug into the Auto harness before I spent any more money. Would doing this just make my engine run in closed loop or do I need a couple of manual sensors hooked up in order for the engine to run right? Is the NV3500 any good? I only hear of the SM465 or the NV4500 being used off-road, Is a NV3500 even worth buying and putting in? Does the NV3500 have the 40tooth VSS gear and the right VSS that my 1993 needs for the speedo to start working again? Thanks, For all the help, Tracker.
