Normally I would point you to a shift rail grind article in the tech articles at AustinK5.net... but today we are having technical difficulties

The rail grind allows you to shift the front and rear independently. if done correctly, you can move one or both into and out of either low or high (not one in high and one in low at the same time).

ORD is not setting your 205 up for twin sticks when you ordered a triple stick with the doubler???????

I ground my own. There is not much too it, but I can't remeber exactly what I did. I think it was something like .425 ground out of the back slot of the short rail, but that was about a year ago so I would have to look at another box to remember. Works great though, no cross shifting, and front and rear independent operation. I'm welded all the way around, and find it much easier to manuver running front wheel drive only.

I thought I got these pics from ORD but can't find them on their site. Click the pic for a larger view.

ORD will send you a set of rails(for a core charge) then send yours back to them.No real waiting that way.

I don't get the mode rail mod... and to really confuse the matter... look closely at the mode rail pics above and tell me the "after" rail doesn't actually have more material than the before

Yeh, I've stared at those pics a lot. I think it may not be real critical. You can tell it's not a "before and after" pic. I think the best bet it to grind it a little conservative and test it out. Could be a pain.

When I did mine, I just ground the one rail and everything worked perfect. There's no rocket science to it.
