203 tcase

okay, good news bad news

as some of u know, i trashed my tcase last sat while at the river... it would send power to the front, but not the rear

so today i cleaned up the 203 that wes gave me, got the truck up on the lift, and jerked out the old tcase... here's some pics

wes's case:

got the truck on the lift, and gettin ready to jerk the old case out

got the case out (damn near dropped it too, had it not been for lenny) and on the table

on with the teardown...

now, here's the kicker... i tore the case down, and as i said before... it lost the rear output, so i was expecting to find a split coupler, or broken fork, or something of that nature... but i found NOTHING... everything looks just like should, and spins/actuates like it should.... im still gna go ahead and swap in the 203 that wes gave me, but as far as my case, does ne1 have some insight as to y i would lose the rear output, but have nothing damaged internally?

203

The shifting fork that shifts it into hi and hi lock and low low lock may have shifted out on you.

well i got the case that wes gave me in, and before putting the shift pod back on, i decided to pull it apart and clean it all up...

got it all back together and right there on the lift put it in gear... STILL wouldnt go... im sittin there thinkin wat the hell, until it dawned on me that i have a stall converter, revd it up to 1500, and bam, she locked in just like she should...

i dont know wat the deal was on the old transfercase... wether it was a shiftfork shifted, or becuase the shift pod was caked with mud, but its all workin now, so thats all i care about... ill prolly get a gasket set for the 203 that came outa my truck on monday, put it back together, and give mine to wes... i assume since nothing is broken or bent, it should be just fine...
