302 Build

MY 86 Bronco has a high mileage 351W HO in it, and a well used c6/np208 combo. I want to swap to my fresh np435/np208 combo, and figure that is the time to do an engine rebuild. I am picking up a ready to build 302 block, but I am not much of a Ford guy. Not trying to build a power monster, just something a lil better than a stock engine, with decent all around power, and able to cruise at highway speeds. ANy reccomedations?? The reason for a ful drivetrain swap is ease, and time.. If I have an entire setup bolted together and ready, I can swap motor/tranny/case in a weekend and have it driving again. Out with the old and in with new..

EFI or carb? GT40 heads off of a late 90s explorer are a common swap for the EFI people. Could also do a mass air swap relatively easy as well to handle all your fuel needs.

You can still run the GT40P heads. They make a carbed intake that will bolt up to the heads. I would run a F Grind cam also with a 4x4 setup. You will get a lopy idle but great lowend power. But its really up to you, your bugget, and your needs.

Not trying to spend a ton on it, basically if I can build a 302 equal to or slightly stronger than the worn out 351W HO I am happy

If you want to go carbed and not looking to spend alot of money I would bore out the block to a 306, GT40P heads, 93 GT Mustang roller rockers, and a roller F cam, decent intake and carb, and a msd dizzy. You will have a stout motor and it will pull you along nicely.
