blazerkid4x4 just gettin started
327 or a 350 ?

The motor will be goin into a 86 blazer with 7" d44 4.56/ ???/700r4/np208/12 bolt 4.56's. Ill either be running 37 boggers or a set of 35x14.50x16 nitto mud grapplers e range w/ beadlocks. This rig will be my daily driver in wyoming. My colledge(sp?) recruiter for wyotech recomended a 4x4 w/ 35's or bigger for a daily driver to get through the snow... Music to my ears.. lol

Well I just got word on the condition of my sbc350 from the machine shop. I had them check the crank pistons and hot drip and flux the block.
Well the block is @ .030 now and need to be bored to .060, the crank is unuseable as it was salvaged once before. The pistons are reuseable tho but useless to me tho. The block is a 4 bolt main for he late 70's. I already have a new cam, oil pump, double roller timing chain, and a set of head I traded for an old 12 bolt posi. I looking @ another 300 to get this motor build able again.

I had a friend tell me about a running when pulled 327 for a reely good price. I dont no much about this motor so School me. From what ive read they seem to be a high rpm motor and not exactly a trail rig motor.

Thanx
Blazerkid

Just another thing to add my dad found a place I can get a mild 350 for about 750 w/o core and supposedly a 383 for about 1200.. Idk what to do what, would u do in my shoes. I just need a motor to get this thing moving.. Btw im 17 and work @ discount tire.. so this is all out of my pocket

327s are pretty good engines and can be built to really run, but a 350 would give you a little more torque per dollar. They both have the same bore size, but the 327 has a shorter stroke than the 350.

That's a BUILT running warrantied 350 for $750 vs lot more money in something unsure of. He'll I told you about both but would go with cu ins. and warranty. Call Andy and let him get started.

Take the 400 that I just dropped off over ther and make it really count when cubic inches matter. Get an aftermarket crank and STROKE IT killer!!! You won't be having to worry about engine temp. up north, too much. But that's what the 400 heads are good for. Just run a diesel radiator in it.

The 350 or 383 from Andy really is your best bet. #20 in the Top Truck Challenge top 50 is running one of his engines. So is MUDDSLINGER and a few other good ol' boys. My opinion.

Lifted78Chevy is infamous around these parts
go 350 end of story......u say your block has already been bored over.....if u can get a short block go 4 it......swap everything over....but make sure u go 350 at least...383 would be great for the torque....i know back in the day my dad had a screamin lil 327 which he exploded at the track droppen the clutch at over 7 grand!!!!! but go 350.....750 not bad..i paid 1200 for my long block.
