On my 4.3 V6 the fuel pump was on it's last leg. I had to spray ether to get her going. After changing out the pump it runs like a champ.
Mike

Not sure on a TBI if you can hear the buzz coming from the fuel pump just before you hit the key.
I'm sure others that do have a TBI will have a better solution...trouble shooting.

TBI computer works by allowing the different things to ground out. Check the ground on the motor coming from the computer, then check your other grounds.

if your truck is stock, the fuel pump is in the tank, the filter is on the driver side frame rail. If you went with a after market pump, which pump did you use? there is a sock on the bottom of the in-tank fuel pump, check and make sure it is not clogged.

on a TBI setup, when you turn the key to the run position, the fuel pump will run for apprx 3 seconds and shut off, once you begin cranking the engine the fuel pump will begin pumping.

Best way to diagnose the fuel system is to start with a pressure gauge and see how much pressure you pump is delivering. The proper gauge to test this is not exactly cheap though. Also do as MG suggested, check all your grounds and make sure they are clean. you can also use a jumper wire on the FP relay to make the pump run continuously, but the ignition needs to be in the cranking position to see the fuel squirt from the injectors. ( somebody needs to be cranking the truck while jumping the relay )

If the truck is stock, it will also have a oil pressure switch. If the switch is bad or you do not have oil pressure, you will not get fuel while cranking.

That oil pressure sensor is on the back of the intake by the dist. Thats what it sounds like to me. I had the same problem when I was wiring up my cj w/tbi.

can you give us a little more background on the truck? was it running before and just stopped? is it a swap in a different truck and this is the first time to try and start it?

couple other things to look at...

Is your battery full charged? If the voltage drops during cranking the computer will not fire the injector.

Can you hear/ feel the fuel pump relay click? If not it could be the relay or oil presure switch.

I have had these same problems, but becareful when adding fuel in the TBI. I caught my blazer on fire before that way.
Here is a trouble shooting guide I use when I have problems.

Make sure the fuel lines are not backward where they go into the TBI...don't ask me how I know.

The oil pressure switch doesnt even need to be hooked up. It is only there as a backup for the fuel pump relay. You can even wire the pump up to where it runs "on" with ignition hot and it will work like a champ, although it will work any time your key is in the "on" position

Have you checked for fuel spray at the injectors while cranking? If you have no injector spray it could mean that you arent getting a crank signal from the distributor(check connections), fuel pump not working(again check connections, or even hot wire it temporarily to make sure you are getting fuel to the unit), and CHECK COMPUTER GROUNDS!!! This is very important, I struggled to get mine running as it was running very erratic, turnd out to be a loose ground!

yes, if you use the stock hard lines. If you use the adapters to go with hose it is easy to get them backward. Mine did just as described above the first time I tried to start it with TBI. One spray when I hit the key, or just a really week spray. After trying everything in the book I switched the lines and it fired right up.

Distributer module. I had the same problem. Truck would act like it wanted to fire but would just stumble. replaced the module and it fired right up. If your injectors are weak the initial prime when the key is turned on, the injectors will allow the gas to seap past, giving you a stumble. Good luck.
Both times I lost the module was because of a shorted wire.
Once in the gas tank and once at the stater.
Check for crank signal from the wire that goes down to the stater.
