Angry 427 tall deck install

good god its finally in, but it was a complete night mare trust me. that extra height in the motor makes a huge difference on install. valve cover hit the cab, parts of them hit the bracket below the brake booster. gonna get after it with a BFH and air hammer for fine tuning and see how it turns out.

I cut the bracket under the brake booster with my plasma, made a big difference.

Is your valve train to big for the late model o-ring vavle covers? i had those on my 427 tall deck and didn't have any fitment issues in my blazer.

Well hell, I coulda told you that it would be tight. Plus you have some big valve covers. The stock VC's are slim.

I say, time for a 3" body lift.

Also, Chevy has a couple different motor mount "clam shells"(the part that bolts to the block). The pickup "clamshells" are taller.

Get some "clamshells" from a car, they will let the motor sit a little lower (like, 2 inches). You will have to move the rubbers down on the frame too, so they sit lower in the frame. Only downside is you MIGHT have some header clearance issues with the motor lower in the frame.

oh no, no body lifts for me lol. i am gonna get after it with some hammer and cutting torches here shortley and make it look good enough bed liner will cover it. i tried to put stock o-ring covers on it but my valve train just would not allow it.

mitch i trimmed that bracket down it looks good as far as clearance goes, i ratcheted to motor to where it will sit with a tranny and i had about 1/4" of clearance on passenger side, im gonna back it about 2" just to be safe for movement. will post more pics soon


hotrodbill i orederd ord's 1" billit body pucks last night i think that will make everything where it otta be.

ok its runnin good and mostley tuned. just to throw in there i dont like this solid roller setup i dont care for the clatter but it makes a good exhaust note. now im throwed off though, it seems to be burning "blackening" the oil fast. like real fast. one day. i have been running castrol for a break in before i switch to royal but it just seems to be burning it or maybe its just dust and junk from sitting up for so long i dunno. anyone else ever had somethin like this? its not turning completely black but its deff getting there and i looked to see if the filters had junk in them and for the most part they were clean

I dunno about turning it black, but I have been running 15-40 diesel oil in my 454 ever since I had a lifter quit spinning on me.
