to each their own. i had the 4L80e in my 99 3/4 ton and i put over 100K hard towing miles on it and the only problem i had was the converter lock up relay and i fixed that myself for little to nothing. i traded it in for a D-max cause the small block was getting tired of the heavy loads

How many miles have you put on the trannys and how much do you tow with it just for curiousity?

trucks got almost 200000 miles. its lifted with 35's, reunel rear bumper, warn front bumper, headache rack, toolbox, etc. so its pretty heavy. it was used to tow for about 4 summers everyday, but now we got a different work truck. motor is great though.

what do you guys think about building this tranny. i was thinking a nice torque converter, shift kit, and aftermarket tranny cooler. what do torque converters run $?

Hmm, I like mine. I wheeled it for the first time this weekend and it was flawless, temp stayed below 180 w/ only the radiator cooler in a stock jeep radiator. I have an auxillary cooler ready to go if it runs hotter this summer. Granted I'm only lugging around 4000 lbs. and no trailer.
