4l80e to 205

Has anybody does this? I have a 4x4 4l80e with an np4401 adapter and a round pattern 205 with 32 spline input and would like to mate them together.

From what I understand I can just drill and tap my case to match the 4401 adapter and all will be good. Anyone else know if this will work?

Mines behind a mild 350 that will someday either get a built bbc or a built ls motor. Lol

Thanks. I have already read those 2. Lots of conflicting info also. One person a says this will work while person b says it won't. I'm trying to do my own research and was just wondering if anyone here has already done it.

Why can't u use the adaptor that was used on the 32 spline round 205? That 205 was behind a th400 which has a 6 bolt tail housing just like the 4l80...

the 4l80 and th400 have a different diameter indexing ring on the trans side, theyre not directly interchangable.

kyle, just try to slide that 205 on the 4l80 and measure face to face distance. be a baller and make your own adapter like you had mentioned.

Hey Kyle

Im still working on my setup.

There are so many different ways of doing it.
Depends on what you start with 2wd 4l80, 4wd 4l80, then the different adapters & of coarse round or figure 8 case yet, but will when time permits.

Im hoping to have the adapter machined by this weekend & go from there.
My plan is the 4x 4l80, machined fig 8 205 adapter, & a figure 8 np205.
It looks to be the easiest.
I havent been able to mock up 2wd 4l80, SPACER, round pattern (205) adapter, round pattern 205 case.

What happened to you doing the doubler ?
thats easy with a redrilled 241 adapter.

Kyle I got your text while typing this, swing by when your up next & I will show you the modified 241 adapter for the doubler.
We can compare it to your 4401 adapter (I think they are the same).
I will have to dig out one of my 4401's & compare.

Hey Kyle

Couple different ways to go with figure 8 pattern.

(1) 4L80 (4wd).
Figure 8 adapter, machined index ring, minor grinding of outter rib for pan clearance.
Install long 32 spline input in figure 8 205.
Cut 3/16 of an inch off the 4l80 output shaft.
Bolt all together.
Note this will keep your shifter mount but will move it back about 1 & 1/2 inches.

(2) 4L80 (4wd).
Install NWF adapter ring (no machining)
Install long 32 spline input in figure 8 205.
Bolt all together.
Note this will keep your shifter mount but will move it back about 2 & 5/16 inches.

I havent started on the round patterns yet but will when I get time.

I do know if you use the 241 adapter you loose the shifter mount.

Will post more later.
