6.2L engine swap

There is a 1985 suburban I am looking at that has a crate GM 350 in it. I want to swap a 6.2 in to it (i have my reasons). I used to have one that had a factory 6.2 so I know they fit. Would there be anything special to swapping one in? I don't know the original engine that was in there. The current transmission is a TH400.

Thanks!

Hydroboost brakes and you need a diesel governor in the trans.
Driver side battery tray.

Will bolt right in . You will need a diffrent torque converter. And either and engine driven vacuum pump or recommend and electric vacuum pump is what I recomend for your power brakes and trany govener. Or you can switch to hydroboost brake booster and a doesel gov. Like the other gentlmen said. Good luck

Thanks for the info guys!

Bodie, I am interested in diesel simply for the fact that it is diesel. I have a contract for diesel at a very low price and have several thousand gallons already in my tanks. Cost of conversion to gas wouldn't be practical for me. I am interested in that particular model because I know they came from the factory in those vehicles so the swap shouldn't be too hard. Also I know they get decent mileage. I'm not particualrly interested in a newer engine. I don't like the computer controlled stuff. Ideally I can find one with the 6.2 already in there but if I couldn't I needed to know about a swap.

Thanks again!

Why not use a cummins? Way way better engine, and way easier to get parts for.

Could put the GM 6.5 turbo same as the 6.2 but with a bit more power. Fits in the same hole. I can't remember if the 6.5 is fly by wire?

Do a late 6.5 turbo swap, but instead of using the electronic injection pump use a db4 and a mechanical waste gate. Change the convert diesels require higher stall and all you need is an ignition hot wire for the injection pump.
