700r4?

going to be running a 700r4 in the new rig when its done. was going to put a valve body in it so i can get rid of the kick down cable. but i have a question about the kick down cable. Since the truck will never see past 1st or 2nd gear. do i really need to worry about keeping the kick down cable or getting rid of it? would i be able to just pull the cable out and put a cap on the hole and not worry about burring up the transmission?

i have heard you will burn up the tranny if you take the cable out. How true is that since it wont see highway speeds?

that is not a kickdown, it is a throttle valve it affects every shiftpoint. It needs to be used.. With no cable the TV is closed giving low line pressure, low line pressure allows slippage and weak shifting, which is no good. I would do a valve body to eliminate it or just hook it up.. NOW, my TF999 has a TV cable as well that I disconnected and have hooked to a manual choke cable in my jeep, I can pull the valve open to where I feel it should be. Its a temporary deal, works fine but it only needs to work for 1 more trip. I was going to tie the TV fully open but was warned against this because it could possibly cause breakage when shifting due to full pressure and low speeds..

X2

It's very important you hook the cable up and adjust it properly. Get someone that knows what they are doing or you WILL burn the tranny up. I'm running one behind a big block with a blower and have had no problems.

Re: 700r4?

No experience whith that style, that a lokar shifter? Remember if you end up with a manual valve body, you need something you can shift easily and not miss a gear. Look into art carr for that.. if spending the $$ go ahead with reverse manual valve body and the correct art carr shifter.

Re: 700r4?

Running a lokar shifted for 8+ years now! Awesome love it! Tf trans require the thottle cable to work properly, or thier life span is greatly compromised, I run a lokar throttle cable it is a great product as well...
