Who has done one? Any tips? any special tools needed? I am going to tear mine down and rebuild it this weekend.. or get started on it anyways..

I'll try to take pics as I go..

I thought about doing the "Monster in a Box" when I got my 700. Decided it was gonna be a bit more than my skillset at the time. Good luck.

Get some help from someone that does trannies! There are lots of things to check to make sure it works. I can take one apart but putting it back is another thing. You'll need a real good set of snap ring pliers a good pick and there is a special tool to get the rear piston out.
Make note of the position of all the balls as depending on what year trans you have it makes a difference how many there are and where they go. Also the front pump has two holes to install a bolt to pull it out a slide hammer and a piece of chain works real good. Don't forget you have to take the lock up torque converter syloniod out first.
