85 Toyota-stumble @ crusing speed

I'm looking for help with a problem on a 1985 Toyota 4Wd pick-up. The carb has been replaced with a new unit recently to fix a poor idle and rich condition. The engine now has good idle, runs smooth and has good power when accelerating. But on a long trip, say 100 miles and the engine warmed up, it has a slight stumble or sputter when cruising at 50-60 mph. Any suggestions on what to check would be appreciated!!! My first suspect is the distributor, and perhaps the vacuum advance. JSM84

Just to update:

May have solved the problem. Loose spark plugs. Did a tune-up recently, tried the Bosch Platinum plugs. When removing the old ones, found a couple that were very loose. The Toyota didn't like the Bosch's, ran terrible, so switched back to the same Champion plugs. Engine runs great now, no stumble!!! JSM84

cool
Had that happen to me back when I bought my first Nova(1989). A mechanic said that I needed a rebuild. Lucky, my older brother talked me out of that and he looked at it. Found out that all the plugs were loose. He gave it a tune-up and ran great for two years before I sold it. Needles to say, that Mechanic is now out of business.
