Unhappy back in 454 hell again

hey guys ive got this motor giving me 9 kinds of hell, i was gonna see if any one else had ever been down this road.
its just an ol 454 punched 40 over, closed chamber 215 heads, comp 4x4 hydro flat cam, demon 750 dp, msd pro billet, box, coil, etc.
this thing will not go over 3500 rpm for the life of it, its got around 2000 miles on it now, ive changed ignition setup completely in and out, got it another carb, checked timing, even swapped valve springs out, btw is a pita with the heads still on the motor.
it will idle smooth as can be damn near like fuel injection but when i stomp on it it loses all hope around 3500, it almost bangs out like its losing timing or fuel, even symptoms of a bad cam but everything has been checked time and time again, am i missing anything that anyone can see?
thanks in advance any help or input is much appreciated.

Out of curiosity, did you have larger valves put in those heads? 215's came with the smallest valves available for a BB head. Whats your total timing set at and when is it all in by?

I had an engine do just about the same thing your describing it turned out to be the spark plug wires? They were brand new Accell wires.

Yes I did have the heads cut out for larger ss valves now to what size I am unsure of I can find out though. I believe 219 intake but I'll have to check.

I'm running the morroso ultra 40 wires. I have had them a while now though with numerous motors. I'll look into finding anoter set to see.
Thanks guys

just an update i swaped a solid roller cam back into the motor and sure enough the old flat tap had some pretty ugly cam lobes, well now the thing is bending intake push rods as fast as i can change them, havent tried setting exhaust yet but this cam is only 580 lift i wouldnt think it would hit that bad, ive got my cam and crank lined up at 6 and 12 oclock im gonna double check tommarow after work just to be sure i didnt miss anything

What rocker arms are you running? Check for interference with the valve springs. Were the guides clearanced for that much lift?
