Cable shifting

Wanting to cable shift my 205 when I swap it in, or shoudl I say, I need to cable shift it actually.. There are kits for $350 out there, but I know that it can be done cheaper, and most kits use a 1/4"-28 thread on the cables. Anyone have any experience with these cables?

Cables - Midwest Control Products Corp.

I can go to 5/16" thread cable for $47 each, and can get the forged yokes for the ends for $3 each. For $160 I could order up 3 cables and 3 sets of the yokes, have a stronger cable than a 1/4", and be well under the $350+. fabbing brackets and handles would be nothing. Anyone have any input??

Thats where I found the link to this place actually. I found the part numbers for the 1/4" mcmaster carr cables and pieces, and see some guys using the B&M shifter cables. I like overkill LoL..

Here's a link to prices of where a few of use got our cables and stuff!!

I got the cables and mounts kit from JB!!
But I made my own shifters they look good but for some reason want shift smooth like cable shifters should. My front shifts perfect but the rear wont shift worth a damn! (Not sure why yet) I'm thinking maybe adjustment!!
I fabbed 3 different shifter set ups before I could get the leverage rite on them!! Kind of an Arssss whipping!!!
If I was to do it agien I'd just save for anothere week or three and buy there complete kit ( shifters cables and all) just my 2 pennies!!!!

This thread came along at just the right time as I'm needing some cable shifters myself.

Time to delete it!! LoL.. I think I'm gonna order up the 5/16" cables in a couple weeks for mine. The bracketry for the 205 is simple(made a regular twinstick before) and shifter handle setup will be simple for me as I can build it in place off of my seat bars in cage.

Now, if more people get interested, and we can somehow come up with the need for 25 cables, we can get em for $31 a piece.. (thats 5/16-24 cable 48" long) I would take 4 at that price..
