carb problems

i think i have a carb problem with my blazer. it has an 80's model 454 in it and it just runs like crap. it idles good but when you start to go it pops and bangs out the exhaust. any one have any ideas. i think it is the carb.

ROADDOG just gettin started
try swaping your carb.if that dont work you might want to try swaping out your distributer.it sounds like somthing small but its a pain to find...if that dont work well then you got to get internal...hope you find the problem.....

i hope i find it too. i am to the point of selling it. the timing is set right. i put a new timing chain on it a couple of months ago because you could almost move it one tooth with out taking the cahain off. it only pops and bangs when there is a load on the motor. when i find it i will lets yall know.

I agree, sounds like you may have gotten it one tooth off. Did it do this before you changed the timing chain?

ive had this happen on a stroker motor and it was because one of the exhause lobes wore flat and it was loading up the the combustion chamber and it needed somewhere to go so it went through the intake. you may be having something similar happening.

So it ran fine after you replaced the timing chain, then it just started doing it?
