cold start problem HELP!!!
I have an 88 Blazer and when I start it (cold or hot) it runs real ruff, as if its missing real bad. but when i put it in gear, it smooths out. Also it runs real rich with some black smoke out the *** end. just got done doing a head gasket job on it cuz it overheated real bad. wondering if any sensors went out. thanks

I would start by double and triple checking the firing order. If that checks out then do a compression test. I would also check the timing, on the tbi system there is a plug with a brown wire to the distributor you have to disconnect to set the timing, not exactly sure of the exact location since I've never worked on one that was still a factory setup. Also go over all your vacuum connections. Make sure the MAP sensor has a tight vac. connection and is plugged in good. I had all kinds of hell when I did the swap on my truck because I didnt have the right sensor.
Start with the basics first, then go from there. Let us know what you find.
