cooling prob.
went out wheeling sat night and kept having to stop do to over heating. The bbc has a alum.radiator 14' elec.fan plus a 15' flex fan. On the road it does fine just on the trail at low speeds it gets hot any idea's on what to do thanks.

get rid of the flex fan. it only works good at high rpm.
go electric fans for the best outcome.

Try to find a speed shop that sells 40 BELOW. It's a coolant additive that drops the running temp tremendously. I run a bored and stroked 454. It ran on average 230-250. After I added it, it runs 195-220. Be sure to read the directions and warnings first, you cant mix it with some types of coolant. Just trying to help.

I would also check the t-stat,or just change it to a 180*.

A fan shroud will work wonders, if you don't have one. Even if you are using an electric fan only, you need a shroud. My last BB wouldn't stay cool for anything. I used water wetter, 180* thermostat and a 2250cfm electric fan and it still wouldn't stay cool. As soon as I installed a shroud, the temps are where they should be.
