Diesel+Propane=??

Does anyone on here have a propane fumigation system hooked up on there diesel truck? If so did you buy a $$$ kit or build your own "dump" system? I found a really cool link that explains a lot about doing this on the cheap as a dump system and am seriosly thinking about it. Anyone have any experience with this? Here is the link I'm talking about. Follow the links at the bottom of every page to get the full story.

I've thrown that around for years.... i dont see any negative to it.... Your 12 valve would run like a top then! I had been eye balling a bully dog set up but never looked into putting my own kit together. From what I remember it added around 50 hp on a 24v 5.9.

Well yesterday I installed a very simple "kit" to see if this was even worth the time to build a real kit and hard mount it. The "kit" consisted of a bbq grill tank with a regulator screwed into it to get the psi where I wanted it. From the regulatorit went to a "t" valve to shut off the flow. From there it was just hose and a fitting drilled into my intake(pre turbo). Jeromy came by as a co driver to work the regulator and test different psi levels. We started out at around 2psi to start but made our way up to 5psi to finish the test. I just finished doing some pump mods to my 12v so it was hard to tell exactly how much power the pane gave me but it felt like a decent amount. It would get to 70 pretty quick. I want to put it on a dyno to see exact #'s but that's still a ways off. I'm going to be slowly ordering the corect parts to make it switched power at the dash and will give a parts list as I do.

I don't have a gauge yet. I know shame on me. From what I have read it doesn't go up that much and in some cases it will go down. I would think it depends on how hard you are on it.

I've heard it's bad on NOX emissions, probably why it's not that common.

I dont have anyway to monitor egts so not too sure on that but I can tell you it runs smoother and there is definitely more power. How much power will have to be determined by a dyno run.

This has been done for a looooong time so I don't think I'm going to get a patent.

I have 4" and the only problem i've ever had with egts was long hills and heavy trailers... but not sure anything can make that dissapear. but for the fun stop like to stop light runs it'd be sweet.

I've seen some high EGTs in my Duramax empty & running a big tune at WOT. But a lot of the heavy haulers report a significant drop in EGTs...

What did you think of the pane? would you put like a throttle switch on it once you get to a certain point to open or what's the plans for when to inject?

My opinion. If propane was a good option for adding power to diesel engines everyone on every forum would be doing it. I tried it 10 years ago and it is nothing but a pain in the arse and not worth the money or time. Only guys that try it and keep it sell propane for a living. Matter of fact a guy here in town that sells propane for a living has not run it on his diesel in years and the guy that put the kit in did it for free and his propane is free, it's still not worth it. Fuel+Air equals power, but you can't just dump a $hitload of fuel in and hope everything works fine. The flow of diesel fuel is much easier to control (ask Bosch) than the flow of propane (liquid to gas expansion etc). No one trying to make big power in a diesel has run propane since around 2001. MSD spent a fortune developing a propane kit and paid all the magazines to hype it (however that works) for a year or so now they quit building/selling it altogether, at least I have not seen a part number for it in years.
