Dodge tranny rebuild

Its about time to rebuild the 727 transmission in my ol power wagon. Auto trannys really put the wrinkles in my forehead so im a little intimidated to do the rebuild myself.

If i were gonna do it myself, what should i know before i start? Im mostly just pulling the tranny out cause of a real leaky front seal, but im tempted to go a little deeper while i have it out. Mostly because fluid level may have gotten a bit low at some point.

I rebuilt the th350 in the S10, nothing to it. Get a GOOD manual and all the right spring compressors. I did it without the compressors, but the rear spring plate was a real ***** to get back in. Zip ties came to the rescue though. lol Be sure you have enough space to lay everything out and keep it clean. Keep plenty of solvent (I used mostly paint thinner, some brake cleaner) and an air hose handy to clean everything. You dont want to use towels or anything with lint. Make sure you have a new o-ring before you tear the old one off.
