Engine paint..

Been seeing a lot more people using a base and clear paint on motors, question is...is that normal auto body paint or do they make a two stage high heat paint for motors? Would hate to take the time to prep a block and use nice paint just to have it burn off.

Two stage urethane is what they use. It will still burn off a little around the exhaust area just like any high heat paint. Standard engine paint is alkyd enamel which is not nearly as durable as urethane.

Bin using automotive paint on engines and trans for a long time. Just like Turbos10 said it will burn off around the exhaust.
