Ford ??

I just got a drivetrain out of a 83 Bronco and have some questions. There was a box under the seat that kinda looks like a computer with a bunch of wires running thru the floor, what is it?It apears it may have run to the distributer. On the valve covers there was three little boxes with wires and vacum lines, what are they? Also there is what seems to be sensors on the front of the block, one each side. This is a carb motor.

cornfed just gettin started
the box under the seat is a computer. its a really dumb one for emissions. the sensors on the block are probably knock sensors. not sure about the blocks on the valve covers.

Spark to the plugs sounds kinda important. Will I need a new distributer to get rid of all that crap?

You will need to keep that box either way. I would try and obtain a spare if possible. They are fairly cheap. If your truck ever starts acting up real bad, it's most likely this box. Most of the time you can stop and buy a bag of ice to lay on it to get you home......

Wonder if its all that emission crap everybody went thruogh for awhile, dropping the HP,choking it down so the tree huggers could sleep at night.
I called Alamo Performance and they have a distributer that will solve this issue, and I think another one at the same time.I`ll know more in the morning.

Thats exactly what I got,a HEI just like a Chevy. No need for that stupid brain box that always goes out,no need for the external coil, one wire hook up!
