GM 203/205 doublers....

ok guys, i need some skoolin on doublers. it will be going in a k30 regular cab longbed. plans are 2 inch 52s up front and a bastard of a pack 63s for the rear. dual wheel 1 tons 4.10s or 4.56, depends on which front or rear i get a better deal on. H1s and 42" TSL

SO. let me ramble off things i think i know and dont know about them.

so this goes th400/stock adapter/203 range box/aluminum adapter/intermediate shaft/another aluminum adapter/205

can i use a 27 spline 205 or does it have to be 32? figure 8 or round pattern matter?

i want to clock the case up flat but dont really understand how exactly they go together.
what physically connects the two cases besides the intermediate shaft?

shifting would be triple sticked, im assuming the first one for the 203 range box high to low. then the 205 individual rails. does each rail have a dedicated output, or is it more complicated than that? left is front and right is rear?
high/neutral/low?

is there a kit out there to avoid or common problems?

i want to have two crossmembers or one big one, is it ok to just use the two adapters feet? does the aluminum adapter rotate when clocked?

would a lomax kit for the 205 be just as good?
ive got more questions just cant think of them now. and yall know pics say a thousand words!!

i appreciate yalls help

TH400 = 32 Spline, so you'll need to stick to the 32.
Clocking is achieved via the doubler adaptor
The adapters with bolts connects the two cases...the shaft mainly transfers power I believe...I can't see putting weight on the shaft being good for the combo
I went with NWF, took a while to get everything, but damn it's beautiful. If you're more budget minded go with Jed's Machining.
I'm redoing my x-members to attach to the the adapter feet and one at the tail end of the 205/LoMax
LoMax=3:1=6:1 with 203=Sweeeeetness...too bad I haven't shifted mine once lol

Hope this helps...

does it matter which th400 i use? if i use the 400/203 adaptter it shouldnt matter which 400 i get right? they all have the same output shaft if im not mistaken.

I'd get something else other than T-400 tranny... they break easy... ask Bowtie and RVreddog.

I'd use a GM TH400, because...GM rules all No I believe AMC makes a TH400...but I think the there's something in sprocket that's different. OK, that's bs...I'm not sure what's different, but I'd just use a GM one....maybe the flywheel...

Go with a 700R4...it'll allow you to use that 27 spliner

10 Spline (Coarse) tailshaft for the QuadraTrac TC (np219), it is also fairly long, like maybe a foot!

Yucky Trans...

I think you can get the NWF Kit to mate whichever 205 you have (Ford for DSD and Chevy for PSD) to your 203, so all you have to worry about is matching the 203 to your Trans. The Factory TH400/203 setup was only produced for a few years, so it is pretty uncommon, but there was a guy selling one (in Midland maybe?) on here not too long ago.

If you are planning to go Lomax and Doubler at the same time and don't already have your transfercases you might want to just look at a STaK or Atlas, also note - you can't go Lomax if you want DSD.

^ Agreed. If I could go back, I would have just gone Atlas 4.

there's only 1 adapter between the 203 range box and the 205. The intermediate shaft just couples the 2 together.

No, has a rotated bolt pattern.

only 3:1 with Lomax, AFAIK

Just in case you haven't read it yet, go to Offroad Design. Lots to learn.

You can come by and look at mine. about a year on it with no breaks. Romped it pretty hard in the beginning. TH350 though.

It should work with the proper adapter. Buy my doubler setup so I can go to an Atlas 4
