LT1 in a Jeep

I have a pal who just got a really good deal on a LT1 equiped car that has the *** totaled. Of course we want to put the engine in his jeep.
The wrangler has the 4 banger right now,so I figure he may need a different tranny & t-case. Any good choices for the application?
What kind of issues are yall running into stuffing these small blocks in jeeps? I think I can sort through the wiring & computer issues. What about cooling & drivetrain problems??

It may not be a good idea if it will see a lot of water and mud. I have heard that the crank sensor or something down there doesnt like to get wet.

Hey ya Evan,

It don't sound like a big deal at all. As far as the tranny/x-fer go you should be able to use a combo compatible with the LT1 year model or an early Turbo/205 set up.

If you remember the General Lee blazer from the river, I know he is running a late model LS1. I can get some more specs. if you like when he gets back from Mudstock.

Catfish

P.S. If for what ever reason that LT1 dont make the transition, I would be interested in the motor, tranny, harness combo(whole car) for my 48 Chev. streetrod project.

Ill keep that in mind. thanks

I have been looking into header/steering clearance issues too. Would it be really wrong to have the drivetrain a inch or so off center?

My 6.0 is mounted about an inch to the passengerside, no problems. Also, I'm running just a stock 4.0 Jeep radiator with a tuarus fan and 160 degree thermostat. I wheeled all day yesterday outside temp mid 90's and I didn't get above 185 on the coolant. Granted the LT1 may run hotter than the LS1's, but it's worth a shot if you already have the jeep radiator, you might save a couple hundred bucks.
